Ottilie (ottilie_weber) it is an young adult book. It is based off a nightmare I had every couple of years. Asteriods come and destroy most of the world. It follows a group of teenagers ranging from 17-6 years old. Not all of them get along and their struggle to stay alive. Aaron and Lauren are the ones who tell the tale. If surviving wasn't hard enough with this destoried world, Dean Manson, is out of prison and out for revenge against Aaron. haha I'm sure that sounds weird...

Actually, I read over the first few lines (I would have read more, but I'm busy, busy), and I love it so far. Your first line is really good, very catching :).

Stormy Hello, thanks for the invitation, just glancing through the intro section has been interesting already.

I live in Seattle, WA and very much enjoy reading. I actually started joining Goodreads groups in order to get some recommendations on books I'm might not otherwise think to check out. I really love some of the pick a shelf, pick it for me and random book choice challenges that I've joined in the last 4 months.

I am a bit of a lazy reader since I work full time and have two young children. I prefer to read things that I can pick up and put down multiple times and not have to read the same page 50 times before I get to the end and understand what it was saying.

Lately I've read a lot of paranormal romance, but I also just finished Infidel which was a bit life altering.

Looking forward to connecting to folks here.

Terri Armstrong (TArmstrong) | 21 comments Hello, I'm Terri Ann Armstrong. I'm a four time published author with the second of my Menacing Trilogy to come out in February 2011 and a collaboration with fellow author Starr Gardinier Reina to also come out some time next year...we hope.

I live in the town I was raised in, Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the heart of the Berkshires. Autumn is beautiful here and my favorite time of year. Next year, I plan on moving to California. I have family there and I visited for the first time two years ago and I am in love with it. If you've never been go. You'll love it.

I have a grown daughter Ashley and an 8 year old grandson Tyler whom I am completely in love with. He and my daughter are the reasons I breathe.

I want to wish everyone here success and joy with your writing. It's a passion we can't explain, luckily, being around other authors, the need to explain in unnecessary. Have a great day.

David Brown | 1 comments Hello, I'm David Mark Brown (I have to use all three names to avoid getting so many collections notices)! I try to spend more time reading as a break from writing, but don't always succeed. My book tastes are fairly eclectic, but I enjoy good story, good romps, dark humor, quirky ideas, etc.
I'm currently living in Texas with my wife and son with another boy on the way. Looking forward to the reads and the discussion.

RO (goodreadscomro) | 2 comments Looks like a fun group and appreciate the invite. I'm a reader of various genres, but love romance and suspense stories. I work as a Features Editor at www.justeroticromancereviews.com and have found tons of books from new erotic authors. I'm a SERIOUS fan of Richard Paul Evans, JR Ward and David Baldacci. Looking forward to all the various discussions.

Terri, I got a laugh from your post - my mom lives in California, and it is her dream to retire to the Berkshires. She's researching around for a small, safe, pretty, semi-rural place to live, and one of the towns on her list is Pittsfield! What's it like to live there?

Well, Kate, it all depends on where in the city you live. There are "richer" sections which are gorgeous and even the "middle class" sections are really nice, but the West side is a place to stay away from. The surrounding towns, Lee, Lenox, Great Barrington, Stockbridge and Hancock are all artsy towns and there are many things to do throughout the seasons. Tanglewood in Lenox has concerts all the time, Lee is filled with high end shops, Stockbridge has fine dining, Great Barrington has Catherine's Chocolates LOL, and then there's the Normal Rockwell Museum somewhere around here, but I forget the name of the town it's in, but it's not far from here. There's Bosquet and Brodie Mountains to go skiing on, there's Mt. Greylock which is an actualy lighthouse ON TOP of a mountain. Whose brillinat idea that is I'll never know. I can't see it helping any ships there. LOL, but it's very popular and the view is gorgeous. The mountains are absolutely breathtaking and the autumn brings some of the brightest, most beautiful colors she'll ever see. We have a museaum here, the Berkshire Museum. During the holidays it has it's "Festival of Trees" exhibit. All different businesses have their trees displayed in the museum and she can go and see them. Some of them are the most beautiful I've ever seen, others, well, let's just say she'll see lots of people's ideas of "decorations". LOL Then, close by, another town whose name I cannot recall has a butterfly thing where you can walk through and all the butterflies are flying all around, they land all over you and you'll see colors and butterflies you never dreamed of. The last thing I can think of is Hancock Shaker Village, in Hancock of course. It's this entire area where the Shaker's houses and farms have been preserved and restored for people to come and see. The very famous round barn is there, along with some beautiful, little homes to walk through. It's a full afternoon of interesting things. Sometimes visitors will even see people dressed as shakers baking and cooking the way they used to back then without all the modern conveniences of today.

So as I've droned on, you can see, there are a lot of things close by and within the city that are really wonderful. But having lived here my whole life, it's not so interesting to me anymore. My favorite thing is the mountains. They are truly beautiful and during the fall season, they look like a patchwork quilt. I hope this helps.

Jan C (woeisme) IIRC, you are also not too far from Albany there, are you? I used to live in Guilderland, a suburb of Albany, and recall going to a local cemetery on a hill and you could see the Berkshires in one direction and Albany on the other. We were on the road from Albany to Saratoga. We were within a short driving distance between the Berkshires, the Catskills and the Adirondacks.

Shomeret | 86 comments This is a Shomeret a 55 year old who is currently engaged in a midlife career change. I am pursuing a Library Information Services degree after being a bookkeeper at the same job for 20 years. I read omnivorously but the genres I'm most likely to be reading are historical fiction, mysteries and fantasies. I always look for the unusual in books. I despise formula. I hope to get into some interesting discussions.

Steve Lowe (steve_lowe) Greetings party people, and thanks for the invite Rick. I have two new releases out right now, a bizarro comedy about body-switching rednecks and a dark werewolf thriller. (Click on my profile if you want to know more - I won't bomb the forum with direct links)

If anyone is interested in learning more about the burgeoning genre of Bizarro, ask away. It's basically the genre of the weird. The stories range from comedy to horror, but all have one thing in common - weird plot elements that will be unlike anything you've ever read before.

Glad to be here.
