PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO YOUR FELLOW JAMES MASON MEMBERS!
Hi, everyone. I am not an author, just an avid reader. When I was a kid, my father's rule was no reading at the dinner table. But I still do it, sixty years later! Then I read Nancy Drew, now I read mysteries and science fiction mostly. I hesitated to join this group because I'm already reading all the monthly picks for those two groups, plus working my way through at least three series that I discovered through Goodreads. I couldn't resist this group because I have loved the PBS mystery detectives so much. Morse, Poirot, Dagliesh, were all so well portrayed they made the mysteries come alive even more.
Anyway, I will follow your discussions with interest and am sure I'll add to my "to read" list. Thanks, Rick, for the invitation.
hello everyone. i'm meme and new to the group. i'm a fellow book lover with interests in historical fiction, classic novels, historical and paranormal romance. in my current phase, i'm reading tons of paranormal romance. before that it was historical fiction. some of my favorite authors are Philippa Gregory, Kathleen Winsor, John Steinbeck, Thomas Hardy, and Laurell K. Hamilton; to list a few. looking forward to discussing some great reads with all of u =)

Hi everyone, my name is Robin I am from Hawaii. An avid reader, started when I went to the library at aged seven. Love mystery writers from Agatha Christie to Sue Grafton. The Brontes, love poetry also. Mansfield, Robt. Frost, Dorothy Parker, Read entire Evangeline saga by Hawthorne. I write in journals, but have been caught up in this Goodreads addiction lately. I also work part-time.
Hi, I'm an Englishwoman, currently living in Bulgaria. I write Romance with a hint of Scifi/Fantasy. My characters aren't always good-looking and unimpeachable, otherwise I'd lose interest in them, and I'm sure my readers would too. Before writing full-time, I spent eleven years as a Child Protection Social Worker. I believe this gave me a great insight into the human condition, which also helps to make my characters believable.
I'm honored to have been invited by Rick to come on these boards.
Hello all,I am Kristine, married mother of three. I live in Salt Lake City Utah. I work as a Child Administrator for a large child care center, I worite and monitor grants and run the afterschool program.
I was an early, fast leearning and avid reader as a child, reading adult novels by time I was in Jr High (y/a just wasn't what it is now back then)
After marriage, kids and work I fell off the bookmobile but now I'm back. I helped start a local book club with my husbands cousins and it has been great, reading things I never would have picked up myself.
Goodreads was a random but glorious find for me!
British literature is not something I have leaned towards, having read the usual Shakespeare and Dickins in school. I think the older stuff intimidates me. , probably goes back to school readings.
As I am in two book clubs right now I can't promise much for the group reads here but it may inspire me to read even more outside of my genre :)
Hi all, I'm Tim Frost from the UK, currently working in the West Indies. I have two books out, 'Final Passage' and my new suspense thriller 'The Abigail Affair', both available as eBooks on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Smashwords for $0.99.This seems like a great club and I look forward to joining in.

Hello everyone! I have just joined and I am looking forward to meeting everyone. :)My name is Christine d'Abo and I write erotic romance, mostly with a focus in futuristic settings. I love to read and I am looking forward to seeing everyone's recommendations.
Want to thank Rick for the wonderful invitation to join this group! I am an avid reader of just about anything that I can get my hands on! Looking forward to meeting fellow readers and learning more about them and their interests and sharing my thoughts on things as well.
Hi everyone,Received an invite from Rick a while ago but haven't yet posted a 'hello' - I'm Kristina, like most people here I would devour books if I had more time and I'm a passionate reader. Taking part in a the Seasonal Reading Challenge here on GR as it prompts me to read books I might not normally pick up. Doing pretty good so far as I am home from work recovering from surgery to reattach a shoulder ligament.
Looks like you havr built a great community Rick, love the support for new & lesser-known authors :) they say everyone has a book in them just few of us have the courage to follow through.

Evelyn wrote: "Thanks Rick and Gary for the welcome!"Hi Evelyn,
Just got your book Beyond the Rapids. Thanks!! I am already on page 27 and totally hooked. Just a total page turner that I plan to read this entire weekend.
Hi all,I'm Trace and new here - thanks to Rick for the invite. I'm an Aussie author and prolific reader. The first two books of my Witchcraft Wars trilogy, Erich's Plea and Ursula's Quest are available from Smashwords and Amazon, both e-format and paperback. Hope to have the final released before Christmas. Also have a couple of short stories to give potential readers a feel for my style.
I'm looking forward to spending as much time here as possible - after all the only thing that's almost as good as reading a book is talking about it :)
Cheers,
Trace

Hi, my name is Gundula and I have a PhD in German literature. I also have a serious addiction to books and actually have more books than furniture at my house (to tell the truth, I put most of my furniture into storage because I needed more room for my books, drives my family batty, but maybe that's the point). Anyway, I have very eclectic reading tastes, from German, French, Canadian literature to biology books, historical fiction and children's literature. I also love traditional folk and fairy tales, especially comparing the different fairy and folklore traditions of the world (it's amazing how similar many of them are).
Hi and welcome to the newcomers. I'm still very new here myself but I've found everyone very polite and interesting to chat with.Gundula I've always had a fascination for German literature but more skewed along the lines of their ancient mythologies. Your studies must have been fascinating :)

Some of it, but a lot of it was tedious as well; a lot of German novels, especially of the 19th and 20th century are incredibly long and convoluted. I would have enjoyed more courses based on German mythology (but, then again, there is a real lack of printed German, or old German mythological literature, I would have had to take Old Norse, which unfortunately was not offered). It also would have been fun, if there had been some courses on German children's literature. You know, for my first comprehensive exam, I had to read things like "Nibelungenlied" etc., but the department never actually offered courses on the older literature, we just had to know it for the comps, which kind of sucked, big time.
Thanks to Jim for the invitation. I am Linda, a book review blogger on http://bookvisions.blogspot.com. I read a variety of genres, but mysteries, thrillers, and Chrisitan fiction are my favorites. I recently bought a B&N nook, which as made me even more obsessed!
Hey M.R. good to see you here :)And Gundula I've always LOVED Norse mythology, wished I had studied more of it while I was at Uni - maybe next year when I go back.
Hi,I know this isn't really the right place to post this, but I've just heard Sir Norman Wisdom has died. Like him or not, he had a huge effect on the movie world, a sad loss and he was only 95!
All the best, Paul Rix [old geezer]

I wish I were going back, I miss university and taking courses, of course, it's great to read what one wants.
