Hi I'm Tania, an American born author who writes literary fiction. I'm happy to be a part of this group and am thankful for the invitation. I have ancestral lineage (on my dad's side) that started in Russia, moved to the UK, through the Caribbean, and then to the states. There's a strong English influence in my family from and still in the Caribbean. I can remember watching Benny Hill with my dad when I was a little girl- a regular event which I believe has a strong influence on my own sense of humor today. Again, I'm very excited to be here and am looking forward!~ Tania

Hello. My name is Curt. Back in Late Neolithic times ( 7th grade) I took it upon myself to read the first volume of Winston Churchill's 'History of the English People'. From there to Gibbon's 'Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire", and from there to M.R. James' 'Oh Whistle,And I'll Come To You, My Lad'. The lofty, the frosty, and the plain keep the lights on chilling. And that was Churchill!
Hi my name is Adele, and I love all things books. I can be quite picky when it comes to reading. I love reading books and the Movies/TV series they are based on. I have numerous (over 50) classics just waiting to be read, I’m making my way through the phantom of the opera at the moment. But I’m the type of person who is easily distracted so if a book doesn’t totally grab me in at the start (or even part way through). I will take my time to read it. But I usually read minimum of a book a week. Sometimes I’ll read a book a day (depending on the length of the book).

You're right. I'm looking at the cover now. I guess the Section would have me transferred to a less demanding detail.
Yes as civilian reader. Would hate to be an agent on one of Smiley's rough days and made such a mistake. Brrr.

Hi, Thanks Rick for the invitation to join your group. Although not a british author, I am an avid reader of the Classics, no matter where the author resides.
Myself, I am an Aussie author with eight science fiction fantasy books under contract with Museitup Publications. The Chronicles of Caleath has already attracted a following of readers eager to get hold of the complete series, so I am looking forward to having them out there. Not sure they will be classics, but knowing people enjoy reading them is pretty much enough for me.
When not writing, editing or spending quality time with my grandchildren it's likely you will find me reading.
Looking at the conversation taking place... the reading choices are great. Love the spy thriller genre.
See you around.

Thanks for the invite, Rick! I am an avid reader/reviewer of almost any genre, with my personal favorite genres being suspense/horror (which I don't get very many review books of), historical fiction, and fantasy (along the lines of "Outlander"). I like well-drawn mysteries and dramatic fiction as well. With a teen reader in the house, I've also been drawn into modern YA (with IT'S broad interpretation), and have found many good books that I might not ever have read otherwise.
Hello all, and thank you Rick for inviting me to join this group. I would also like to thank you for adding my book The King's Tale to the group's bookshelf. For those curious, it is a m/m historical/fantasy romance. I say "fantasy" because it's not historically accurate in some key places. ;)
I live in California, and have actually never been to the UK, but I have had a fascination for British culture and literature since I was in high school. I just passed my 52nd birthday, so high school was a long time ago. While I primarily enjoy historical romance novels (like those by Roberta Gellis and Beatrice Small) I also really enjoy straight historical novels. My favorites include The Poldark Saga, and series by Sharon Kay Penman and Mary Stewart.
I'm currently working on a sequel for The King's Tale, but my day job as an elementary school teacher keeps me quite busy, so it's slow going.
I want to thank Rick for the invitation. I am US YA fantasy author who is an avid reader of books from espionage to YA fantasy. You can find out more about me at my website: http://ednahwalters.com/ . I'm looking forward to participating in discussions about books. - Ednah
Thanks for the invite Rick! My name is Dara and I live in the midwest. I am an avid reader, though not a huge fan of historical fiction, I do read some, depedning on my mood I suppose.
Hi everyone, and thanks to Rick for the invite! I'm Larry, a 43 year old science fiction fanatic in England who also has an interest in the classics as well as history, science and just about anythibg in between! Oh and I really like trees!Looking forward to meeting you all and see what you're all reading!
I'm Jane and just joined today. I've finished reading Strangers and Hotel du Lac and I'm working on Rules of Engagement all by Anita Brookner. I read mostly fiction and the occasional non-fiction. I like mysteries, suspense and almost anything about Native American History.

Good evening everyone. Thanks Rick, for the invitation. I live near Houston, Texas, where I enjoy reading after a long day at work. When work gets boring, I have been know to read there as well. I have always enjoyed military history of all types. One area of interest has been Wellington in the Peninsula Campaign. In recent years, I have also begun reading historical novels of various types. My previous career involved criminal justice, so I also have an interest in crime novels. I'm looking forward to participating in the discussions with you.

Hi. Thank you Rick and Dani for the invite. I love books, all sorts of books. I used to own a beautiful and expensive collection of art and design books. I was into literature, then moved to PNR for fun. I realized that reading for fun instead of analysis makes the reading go much faster. I knew I've exhausted PNR when every new books created a dull buzz in my head from repetition. When my PNR group moved to Goodreads, a new world opened up for me. I discovered the Horror Aficionados group. I've always loved horror since I was 5, but never had anybody to enjoy it with. I didn't realize how alive the horror genre was, with sub genres such as Splatterpunk and Bizarro, and writers pushing the boundaries of gore. Thus, my current obsession is Horror, and I am collecting horror books like crazy. On the side, I am also enjoying Fantasy/Sci-Fi.
