Deb #7343:Well, yes & no; I write Time Travel, so my secret is #7342.
Just saying.
Glad you're in the group, also #7342.
My debut novel, 'Together They Overcame'was self-published via CreateSpace. ‘Together They Overcame’ is a love story between an Israeli soldier and the daughter of a German Catholic. As the tale unravels, it becomes clear why such a relationship in the 50’s might not work.
Although there are graphic sex scenes between the young, married couple, the story is really about their struggle to survive the hatred of the mother-in-law for his wife because she is the descendant of a German Catholic. The setting is in Israel in the late 50's, not long after the holocaust and the memories of the concentration camps still prevail.

Pay close attention to what is happening around you. A conversation, news show or even do a little people watching. Something very small may light a fire when you think"That would make a great story". Just wanting or talking about it will not put words on paper. If you want to write for children, think back to when you were a child and what interested you - clowns, puppies, bullies, etc. Those re the stories other children will relate to. Good luck.
Sharon #7347:Sharon, you quoted me twice, now nice.
A Loop in Time perchance?
I agree with you though; sound advice.
One can always change what's written, but something must be there first in order to tweak it.
Who knows what the Future will bring?
Oh yeah, just read my stuff & it's then apparent.
Again, just saying.
Thank you Sharon. I have thought about when I was a child and what I liked to do. That's a start. LOL Thanks again. :)
Sounds like you are a great group for me. I try to be an eclectic reader, but gravitate to good fiction. Just completed "Nora Webster" and greatly enjoyed it. Also working on Don Quixote in my "classics" list. I love theatre and film. Recent discussions have been around "Confederacy of Dunces" - good movie? good musical theatre (as mentioned by Neil PH is last week's NYT). Looking forward to some good discussions!
Good morning to you, James.Appreciate you including me in your group.
April of 2014, I launched DAKOTA GOLD. I have had no experience in publishing a book, thogh I have had three (3) poems published years ago.
When your pet is precious to you, and have left this plane to go to the next, there is an emptiness left behind. Few things come to the level of happiness when you watch your pup at play. Their pouncing bodies, little barks of joy, short waggley tails and all the bouncing antics are truly hilarious and they are having so much fun. They stealthely creep into your heart, and without egos, they love unconditionaly.
It was with a pssion I wanted to keep my golden retriever's spirit alive. Thus the book.

Hello and thank you for the invitation! I'm Maggie Adams and I write romance, including contemporary, erotic and paranormal. My debut novel is being released at the end of November. It's entitled, Whistlin' Dixie, and is Book One of my contemporary series, Tempered Steel. The series revolves around a small town devastated by flood and the group of men and women determined to rebuild it. With quirky characters and subtle suspense, humor, despair, and of course, romance, it reflects life and love.

Thanks for the early reviews for RED CARPET RANSOM! Here's the Twitter account: @redcarpetransom and a link https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog...Suspense thriller !
I've spent my life getting great joy from the books I read. As a teenager, I especially loved reading 'Pride and Prejudice','The Tale of Two Cities' and of course, 'The Little Prince'. I've read these books many times since then. My novel, 'Together They Overcame' depicts the lives of a young couple who come from diverse cultures. The young woman comes from an affluent family in South Africa. She, however, is the daughter of a German Catholic mother. Can such a relationship work - an Israeli with the descendent of a German Catholic? The setting is not long after the atrocities of the holocaust.
Hi, I am a historical novelist with my debut novel, The Sun Palace available now as an e-book on Amazaon. I write Irish history mostly and you can read more on my blog: celticthoughts.com I love reading anything historical and occasionally contemporary lit or romance as well.
A friendly wave from a hiker, biker mama in Northern California.I am an active fifty-something female who likes to discover unusual edible items in my local, natural foods store - things that I don't know what they are. Then I like to take it home and figure out something delicious to do with it. [Chia seeds and Kiwiberries were the most recent.] I also like to use multimillion dollar satellites to find plastic boxes hidden in the woods. Reading....always...favorite authors include; Ken Follet, Dean Koontz, Lincoln Child, Douglas Preston and Anne Rice. Oh yea, I've written a few books too.
Hi everyone!I'm new to the group and just figuring this all out.
Not the best at talking myself up to others, I like to refer them to my website: www.BlueHonor.com. I'm the author of two historical novels and an upcoming (and daring) sci-fi/fantasy called The Trailokya Trilogy. You can learn more about me at my website, here on my page or other social media sites, and my blog (all links on my site).
Hello everyone, I'm Dewayne. I am a reader/writer of mystery, an amateur woodworker and an executive businessman. Looking forward to interacting with you all.
I'm very glad to be a member, too (my apologies if I have already posted - I don't think I have, but it is so easy to lose track of what one has posted and where!).My name is Elaine, and I'm a life-long fan of books (earliest childhood literary memories are of the Noddy books, The Faraway Tree, Famous Five and later Black Beauty) recently turned writer. I read many different genres, but my favourites now seem to be crime/thriller and science-fiction (the latter has been a constant since before my teens) and that is what I'm writing. I have one short story collection available on Amazon and my first full-length novel will be released next year (I'm an Indie - unless an agent snaps me up in the interim, I can but hope). I find particular interest in books which have been adapted for screen, find the process and the differences fascinating. Most recent in that category is Michael Marshall Smith's 'The Intruders' (there's a discussion thread on Goodreads for it, must head on over there now the series has finished airing!). Some of my favourite authors can be found on my Goodreads profile/bookshelf, too many to mention here!
I look forward to chatting to the lovely people here and talking about my favourite subject - books, books and more books!
hi, my name is Kimberly Malone. I am writing my first novel " Black and Blue". I hope everyone enjoys it. A portion of each sale will go to Victims of Crime.
I am happy to join the group. I have always been an avid reader and just last year published my first attempt at writing. Fringe Archaeology An Alternative View was both a challenge and pure satisfaction. I enjoyed the composition and the research. I am sure there are still errors that I have not found but I am currently working on a second edition to add information and to correct all errors that we can find. Editing suggestions are always welcome.
Hi, I am Kim. I am an Author/Writer and Artist. Writing is my passion. I have a new book coming out soon called Black and Blue.
Hello to all. My name is Sarah Salem, a brand new author. The way it started, around a year earlier, I was having a horrible day, instead of talking to a therapist, I found myself writing away. Twisted Forms of Love and Bittersweet Tones of Love were the result of that particular bad day. I obviously love reading, growing up, books were my only entertainment.

Greetings and happy new year to all. I am happy to be involved in this group and look forward to everyone's post.
Is this page still active? I'm Bob Dorr (Robert F. Dorr), author of "Hitler's Time Machine," an alternate-history tale of World War II published December 20, 2014.Until now, I've been writing fiction -- for 60 years. I have five non-fiction books currently in print about World War II. I'm an Air Force veteran (1957-60), a retired Foreign Service officer (1964-89), and longtime contributor to newspapers and magazines. I live in Oakton, Virginia and am active in events throughout the region.
"Hitler's Time Machine" is available for Kindle and in print in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Brazil and elsewhere. It includes history, time travel, an arms race between both sides, and what I hope is a compelling story.
I look forward to meeting others with similar interests.

Now I have also begun to experiment with Literary media, film, with a documentary slant. I enjoy traveling and also great books, but who doesn't ? Nice to meet all of you. :)
Hello everyone. I'm so glad groups of avid readers, like this one, exist online. My name is Diane Thomas. I'm the author of two novels, The Year the Music Changed (The Toby Press, 2005) and my new one, In Wilderness (Bantam, March 2015). My favorite authors, at the moment) include Cormac McCarthy, Jane and Charlotte Bronte, and Tim O'Brien.
Thanks for asking.
Hey everybody, I'm Hazel, and as an English student I read most anything that comes my way, although I've spent most of my time in the realm of fiction(anything from historical fiction to fantasy). In addition, I have recently developed a passion for poetry. Currently my favorite author is Margaret Atwood, although it does change quite often! Aside from reading, I play the flute and am involved with theatre, both technical and onstage. I also enjoy writing, and am currently in the process of a novel.
Glad to be here and meet everyone :)
Hazel, Welcome:I also have a theatre background & as I collect instruments, I own a flute although I don't play it much.
As well, I write Historical Fiction & have, as you do, a unique Goodreads profile picture.
Hey, just saying
If I've already posted, please forgive me. Am trying to learn my way around Goodreads. Have been a member of this group for a couple of years but not active. Want to try to remedy that.I'm the author of the literary suspense novel IN WILDERNESS, which Bantam released in March of this year. It was an Amazon "Best Book" in the Mystery/Thriller/Suspense category for March. My debut novel was THE YEAR THE MUSIC CHANGED: THE LETTERS OF ACHSA McEACHERN-ISAACS AND ELVIS PRESLEY, which The Toby Press published in 2005.
Long ago, I was the film and theater reviewer for THE ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, before it merged wtih the JOURNAL and became the AJC. Then I was a staff writer for ATLANTA magazine, and after that I was a freelance writer. There are some weird freelance jobs out there. I once wrote a media kit for a mausoleum, and also a 200-page training manual for a janitorial service that included 40 pages on how the clean a toilet.
Id most of my life in Atlanta and north Georgia before oving five years ago to New Mexico. Right now my favorite writers are Flannery O'Connor and Cormac McCarthy. My favorite novel-to-film is the film version of O'Connor's novella WISE BLOOD that Michael Fitzgerald produced in the early 1980s. I think Goodreads is a great idea whose time has come. Wish I knew more about how to use it.In Wilderness
I've been here and gone away several times. I get the Goodreads group updates but it seems way too much of Goodreads groups is writers flogging their books. The worst is the same post in six different groups.Discussions on books and other relevant topics of interest are taking a back seat to 'look at me' posts. James Mason still remains one that is surviving the infection and I thank Rick for that. Hope I'm glad to be back.
Hi everyone - I'm Warren Fahy (author of FRAGMENT and PANDEMONIUM), and you can download my epic fantasy novel CRIMSON for FREEEEE for the next few days right here: http://www.amazon.com/Crimson-Warren-... :)
Hello Everyone,I'm glad to be part of this group. I live in Charleston, SC. I love books and roses and could not get enough of both. Too many books and not enough time to read and too many roses and not enough space to put them on. I love to read historical novels. I also write historical novels. I'm about to publish my second book.
