Hello Goodreads-readers! Thank you for inviting me to join your vast group. I sure look forward to interacting with you all. I personally enjoy reading paranormal books, (currently reading one of Keri Arthur's - which I haven't updated here *my bad*) romance, and the occasional erotic quickie too. I primarily promote authors with the Twilight Fantasy & CGB Press label, although if I love someone else's work not related to the label, I'll promote it too - you just have to get me interested in it with a great blurb or book cover, synopsis or idea. I consider myself to be a passionate person by nature in everything I do; when I love something I will go all out to promote it. Same can be said if I dislike something - you won't hear a peep out of me about it, so the trick is getting me to like your stuff and entice me to read your work. Complicated? Well, I am female....ok, enough said or I'll have women's lib groups kickin' my ass from here till kingdom come. I especially enjoy being a sounding board for authors, helping them with the direction of their work, talking through story plots, ideas and best of all I offer my services for FREE! You just have to catch me online or drop me an email to organise a time to chat. I hate bullies, but love Toblerone chocolate, my four poster bed and my mum! To connect with me on facebook click and add the link below. I believe in helping others to the best of my ability with all that I have, and hope to meet like minded folk here too with the same spin on life. Helping others, sharing and paying things forward are the keys to making the world a better place. Looking forward to getting to know you! http://www.facebook.com/cgb.press.7

Not sure we are on the same sheet of music, my friend, but the other author I would refer to is John Lennon in his song, "Imagine".

As to your suggestion "No Purgatory" rather than No Hell; well, the intended target is the originator of the Christian religion - the Roman Catholic Church(not true Christianity, but the belief system that eventually spawned all other Christian sects).

And to be true to John Lennon's song that inspired the title of the trilogy, "No Purgatory" simply wouldn't fit... ;o).

BTW, I'm not offended by your valediction - "I love you". Unusual, yes, in this context; but not offensive... ;o)

Lex, my friend---

You endowed me with more knowledge than I actually have. Pardon my ignorance, but I wasn't aware of the Lennon Trilogy. Actually I was referring to Dante's Divine Comedy. His three books are Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell---though not necessarily in that order. I read in while attending U-Miami FL back in 1952, so the details are a bit fuzzy. To tell the truth, the details were a bit fuzzy for me while attending college! At any rate, No Purgatory would replace No Religion, not No Hell.

Thanks for the comment about "I love you" not being offensive. It is a religious faith statement, not an emotional intention. The sig should tip one off, but I get various responses. I'm happy to apologize when it is taken in the wrong way---but most don't take offense.

I love you.

Alan Shaw | 2 comments Hello Rick, thank you for the invitation. My novel Project Overkill is available on Kindle and this is the UK link: http://amzn.to/OUcSoU My author Facebook Page is http://on.fb.me/OndS4S and my Twitter handle is @Billypike
Overkill opens with episodes from the early life of Mike Ambrose, the main narrator and central male character in the novel. He sees action in Kosovo as part of the United Nations force and the reader learns about his character and why the British Army sees it as essentially unsuitable for a combat role.
The action then moves to his civilian career in Information Technology where he encounters the mysterious and enigmatic Claire. He also meets and falls in love with Marcia.
A series of events then sets the scene for the main occult plot of the novel, which is associated with the ‘magick’ of the notorious English occultist Aleister Crowley.
It is set mainly in the medieval town of Shrewsbury, England – where I live - in 2008 but also moves to New York in the 1920s and 80s, London in the 1950s, Paris, and finally Chester for the climax.
Project Overkill is the first of a planned trilogy. I am currently 80,000 words into the second volume, The Shrewsbury Murders.

Imagine
by John Lennon

Imagine there's NO HEAVEN, It's easy if you try
NO HELL below us, Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

Imagine there's no countries, It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for, And NO RELIGION too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

You, you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world

You, you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join usAnd the world will live as one

Peace,

I am Gary Eddings, a retired fire chief and author of three published fiction novels all featuring Native Americans in contemporary settings. It is a collision of cultures that I think the reader will find interesting.

My latest book is "Heart of the Unsung," a sequel to "Song of the Unsung" that takes place in Arctic Alaska. It's a post-apocalyptic story of survival. Both are available in paperback and e-book on Amazon and Kindle.

The other work is an e-book available through the Champagne Book Group and Kindle,"Buffalo Hump," a story about gold discovery that takes place in Central Idaho.

I look forward to sharing and learning more as time goes on. Please check out my blog at http://www.garyeddings.wordpress.com to keep up with my journey as I sacrifice brain cells en masse!

Neil Ostroff (httpgoodreadscomneil_ostroff) | 271 comments I’ve been a thriller sci-fi writer for more than twenty years now and over that span of time my books have gotten the attention of numerous literary agents and publishers. In 2005, I signed with a major literary agent from a major NY literary agency. This agency had sold hundreds of books and film rights, some for as much as seven figures. I was very excited.

My agent loved all six (at the time) of my books and like all good agents edited them and provided insight to help make the stories more saleable, all without asking for a dime in advance. We had several exciting close-call deals and a few heart-racing moments while waiting to see what kind of money was going to be offered. My agent encouraged me to keep writing more books and truly believed that one day I’d hit it big.

Then something happened that turned my world around; a close friend was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. But here’s the kicker… he was given just two weeks to live. He went from his nine-to-five life, to knowing he had a very limited amount of time left. Having no close family and no money for a good hospital, he was left with little option except to die alone. It is then that my wife and I decided to hospice him.

It was an incredibly powerful experience watching as his life slipped away and how he dealt with it psychologically. When the day finally came that he passed on, I was there to shut off the ventilator and pull the sheet over his head. I’ve never been the same since.

As a writer, I wanted to capture something of the moment and relay what I learned from watching someone’s life end. Having never written a literary fiction novel before, I suddenly found myself in the throes of a powerful statement about the meaning of life. DROP OUT was written in a fanatic ten day period.

When I sent the completed manuscript off to my agent, he was extremely disappointed that I had gone this literary route and had no intentions of ever trying to sell the book. I had no intentions of letting the book sit in a drawer, so after a few emails and telephone calls we decided to end our partnership. I was devastated to be back among the ranks of agent-less authors.

Then something amazing happened.

I indie published DROP OUT a little over a year and a half ago, and since then sales have grown steadily each month. At this point, nearly ten thousand copies of the book have been downloaded and I’ve gotten to as low as 1,500 on Amazon’s paid sales ranking. But what is most heart-warming and gives me the most satisfaction is the emails and reviews that I’ve gotten telling me how the book has changed people’s lives. Almost every review is a five star and what the reader’s are saying… well, check it out yourself.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005FX0K7U

I’d like to thank my former agent for dropping me (no pun intended) and giving me the freedom to publish my books on my own. Especially, for giving DROP OUT a chance to change people’s lives. When it comes to the world of big publishing, deadlines, competition, and profit, it’s good to know that by avoiding all that nonsense, a little story with a powerful message can make such a difference in how people view their mortal time on this planet.

To read more about me and my books please check out my blog: ALWAYS WRITING http://www.neilostroff.blogspot.com

Judy Leslie (judyleslie) | 2 comments Hello, My name is Judy and I am a Goodreads author of historical fiction (not to be mistaken for historical romance. Though my novel contains a love story, it is more about a woman's struggle to help others). I also host a monthly book club and read books from different genres. For The Love of Ireland

Bruising Easily

I’ve bled too many stories.
Spilt out my tales like wine.
Blankets barely warm me.
Spooling out their line.
It seems I’m always bruising.
Always crying time.
Projecting out on others
Some weak imagined crime.
The cool naked feeling
Is that I try so hard.
To always follow kindness
And not be so on-guard.
But still there is a haunting;
A deep remembered crime.
That won’t wash off with water.
And will not pass with time.
