My name is Wilson Harp and, like many here, I am a self-publishing writer. I have written 2 novels, a book of Bible stories, and a smattering of shorter works. I look forward to meeting and talking to the people in this group. Thank you Rick for inviting me in, and I hope I will be able to contribute as much as I take away from this place.

Freddie Owens (freddieowens) | 4 comments Greetings everybody. I'm (rumored to be) Freddie Owens and because of a kind and surprising invitation from Mr. F., aka Rick (thanks be to him), have decided to throw my hat into the proverbial ring. So let me get right down to it.

I might say I'm a writer, even a reader, but those claims would be false, would they not? I mean, to me, the writer and the written are both uncertain quantities (qualities, entities?), changing with every whim, vulnerable to insult, bad (as well as good) reviews and memory. Only the act of writing seems certain to me, when it is happening I mean - as it is happening. The same might be said of reading, whereas who the reader is and what he or she is reading seems the stuff of dreams.

Anyway, I look forward to discussing a few of these thingies, to laughing a little, to being shocked, enlightened, saddened and informed - by all ye diaphanous beings, whether well defined, rumored to be or falsely accused.

Warmly,
Freddie Owens (or somebody of his ilk) :)

Andrew Seaward (andrewseaward) | 2 comments Thanks for the invite, Rick! Sounds like a really great group of voracious readers. My name's Andrew. I'm a reader AND a writer. My debut novel, SOME ARE SICKER THAN OTHERS, follows the lives of three hopeless addicts as they converge at a drug rehab high in the Colorado Rockies. I usually enjoy transgressive fiction. Recently, I've been writing reviews for my fellow Indie authors, which has taken me into all sorts of interesting genres.

Carmen Beach (creverett) Thank you for the invite. I enjoy books that stick with you after the last page is turned and have written a book with that aim. Love, Carry My Bags is my debut novel (largely New Adult Saga) about a woman navigating what life throws at her. If you enjoyed The Perks of Being A Wallflower, you may enjoy this as well.

Here's my website with highlights and sample chapters from the book, even a book soundtrack. http://www.creverett.com

I look forward to meeting other members. Thanks.

message 6413: by Lydia (new)

Lydia | 52 comments Thank you for allowing me into the James Mason Club. The reason I joined is attempt to see what others are reading. One of my favorite areas is history, especially British. I was always told if you want a good story read British history. I am also interested in African-American history/literature and am attempting to play catchup. By the catchup, it means reading books that I should have read years ago. I can also say that about classic literature. These are books that you may have read the Cliff or Spark notes instead of the books themselves. My list is allover the place, from Jane Asuten to Sapphire. From Queen Elizabeth I, by Neale to Hilary Mantel and Crumwell.

Sharon | 1 comments This looks like fun, and I love the name. I'm the author of The After School Murders, book one in The War This Side of Heaven trilogy and ongoing Mystery/Romance series. The books I write are for both men and women, and the stories are lightly paranormal and clean. Many of my favorite books/writers generally parallel my favorite movies/television series: Raymond Chandler, Erle Stanley Gardner, Howard Pease, Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle, Alfred Hitchcock, and Rod Serling, Charlotte Brontë (Jane Eyre), Phyllis A. Whitney, and Daphne du Maurier, to name a few. I also like Jane Austin, and I enjoy good poetry. Pleased to meet you all! The After School Murders by Miss Sharon Evans

M.B. Tosi (authormbtosi) | 1 comments Thank you for the invitation to join this group. I am a historical romance fiction author of the bestselling series, The Indian Path Series. Each of the three books in the series focuses on a different Native American tribe during the Indian Wars in the late 1800s, and the lives of fictional characters are woven into the true events. The books can be read in any order as each book stands alone with different characters, tribes, settings, and events in the Indian Wars. My most recent book is The Crimson Path of Honor. Previous books include The Sacred Path of Tears and The Secret Path of Destiny. There is more information about my series at www.mbtosi.com.

My debut novel, SOME ARE SICKER THAN OTHERS, has finally broken out of oblivion and is climbing it's way up the bestseller charts. It's currently ranked in the Top 100 Amazon bestsellers list, side by side with monster successes like "Silver Linings Playbook" and "Life of Pi." It took a year to get there, and now that it has finally happened, I feel the urge to finish the sequel. Looking forward to connecting with more readers and fellow authors! Keith Tutor (jadeandthedeva) | 1 comments My name is Jade Nova. I turned 17 today. My best friend is 1774 years old, and no... she is not a vampire...

Did you read this above and wonder what it is about?

Well firstly let me introduce myself then will tell you more. My name is Kel Trevisan and I work with a team of 5 amazing people(me being one of them of course). I look after most of the communications/promotional side of Jade & The Deva. I have the best job in the world getting to meet and interact with so many inspiring people.

We would like to invite you to check out our Series Jade & The Deva 1st Book 'Hidden Wings'. It is an Australian story and totally unique not to mention original.

When it is about our Environment, the Children and the Future Generation, what is there not to like?

Our Deva's are ‘Etheric’ beings: an ancient lineage of architects, caretakers and custodians of the natural world on Planet Earth. They have come to deliver there message to all Humankind and have a distinct purpose.

It is the impossibly possible story told in the seriously unserious way. Moments of hilarity occur throughout, and the quirky characters will appeal to readers of all ages and backgrounds.

The Jade & The Deva Series is a story for our times and many will recognize their own thoughts and ideas in its pages... It will resonate for generations.

The Deva's would love you to visit their at Website www.jadeandthedeva.com and our Authors Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/JadeAndTheDeva. You can also follow us on Twitter at Jade & The Deva @jadeandthedeva.

Cheers to you all from the Land Down Under and look forward to seeing you there… Enjoy!

When I was working with 2small children and not much time, I would get iritable until I could get a reading fix which usually on weekends. Mow I am retired, i can indulge all I want. I love audio books because I can read a new book doing most anything. I have wide tastes but historical mysteries are my absolute favorite.I never read just one book at a time.E-books have become a favorite because of being able to change the font size to help my eye however, I have printed books all over my coffee table.

Sandy | 13 comments Hello Everyone,
I just published a historical novel which is 80% true about an Egyptian secret service agent who falls in love with a beautiful Israeli woman and has to decide if he will betray her or be loyal to his country and his religion. While he fell in love with her prior to the 1956 Suez War the novel spans 3,000 years from 1800 B.C. to 1979 and details the international intrigue involved in Middle East conflicts.
I teach literature and composition at a local college and to quote Robert Frost: No one knows how glad I am to find
On any sheet of paper the evidence of mind.

My book is The Conspiracies of Dreams and if any of you would like to join an online discussion I would gladly accommodate such discourse.

It is wonderful to find so many readers and writers here.

Totally unprepared for the ride, but I'm hanging on, determined to figure it all out. And yeah, I'll admit it, despite the twists and turns, I'm enjoying the hell out of this ride! Doug Lucas | 2 comments Good evening...my name is Doug Lucas and I am the only author Pipe Dreams Publications has. There is a reason for my being our soul author and it is a rather simple one. Pipe Dreams Publishing is idealistically better defined as three old Marines poking fun at themselves.
We are rather good at this endeavor because of our ages and the number of years we've known each other. I have four books on the market and by the end of the year we intend to have eight.
We do intend to finish this and in the process find a disabled veteran who would like to make Pipe Dreams a real publishing Company. That's our goal right now, when we succeed(and we will succeed) the three of us intend to go back to making each other's lives interesting...very interesting.

Geof Spalding (geofspalding) | 5 comments Hello All,

I am a writer who writes about spiritual/mystical adventures. I have been fortunate enough to meet many wise men and wise women on my journey through 30 different countries.

Below is the press release for my new novel.

Headline: Modern-day Fable Shares Journey of Self-discovery; New Release by Geof Spalding

Summary: A quest for knowledge and a holy artifact leads a writer to a series of adventures and revelations about his soul in this new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

(21st October 2012) INDIANAPOLIS – Aspiring author Conway is working as a night security guard, a job that allows him to take writing classes during the day and polish his prose at night. On his way home one morning, according to this new novel, a bright light envelops him in warmth and transports him to an otherworldly garden. He meets an old hermit who shows him the teachings of a secret, 33-member brotherhood that guides mankind’s evolution. That mysterious group sends Conway on a mind-blowing quest to discover the true story of Jesus and the Holy Graal.

“The 33rd Sage and the Initiate,” the second novel in the 33rd Sage trilogy, reveals Conway’s attempts to fulfill his quest, which leads him to explore the inner workings of his soul and to learn about the power of thought. The journey brings unexpected encounters with new allies: an old Chinese sage, a Buddhist monk, the keeper of the Garden Tomb, a wife from a long-forgotten life, and a being from another dimension. Time traveling, glimpses of the afterlife and trips to exotic locales gradually add their voices to the knowledge ringing in Conway’s consciousness, and he learns how to share his inner truths. Before his quest ends, he will learn the identity of the brotherhood’s newest member.
