Hi Saideh..Good question!..The reason I named the group after James Mason is that he is my all time favorite actor, and when I started the Group in 2009, with an idea (To create a true "virtual community" of readers and writers) I also wanted to honor his memory...and James Mason actually wrote 2 books, a very facinating memoir, as well as a very witty book on his love of cats back..so..what better name to add a touch of grace to a Group :>) The Cats In Our Lives by James Mason

Sandra Simmons (sandrassimmons) | 2 comments Hello everyone. Sandra here. I am a writer of business books about marketing and cash flow management for business owners, entrepreneurs and those who want to own their own business. I just joined Goodreads at the suggestion of fellow author, Boyd Lemon, so I am looking forward to meeting some new friends here.

I read a lot of business books. Many more than once. I am currently reading Guy Kawasaki's book "Enchantment" and plan to read Seth Godin's "Linchpin" next.

I also love to relax by reading fiction by the likes of Vince Flynn, Lee Child and David Baldacci.

message 6158: by Gary (new)

Gary J. | 5 comments My editor made me join Goodreads, and for sure I'm not shy, but I've always done my best to avoid notoriety of any sort. This aversion to banging my own drum probably goes back to time spent in the Marine Corps, watching the wrong people get medals, and to years working as an undercover cop, when hiding my real identity became a reflex. All this exacerbated by the fact that when it comes to books and to the people who write books, I've always felt that it is the book that counts, and not the person who wrote it. Quaint ideas, I know.

I reckon that for the most part I'll let my writing do the talking. What I say here is just by way of letting people know that it exists. Please understand that most of what I'm going to say is nothing more than a condensed version of what people who are supposed to know these things have said. Reviewers seem to like me. But Goodreads is about readers, not reviewers. The jury is still out.

I never tell my own stories. My characters and the stories they populate are composites of real people doing real things. They are not me; the experiences are not mine. All this gets a little confusing because I like to use a very limited third person narrative. I don't like it when the author intrudes. And this style pretty much negates that sort of intrusion. At the same time, however, in the reader's mind, it is a style that tends to merge the author with the character.

I intended only to write fun-to-read adventure/thriller/mystery novels. But it turns out that this is not possible. The fun-to-read part always turns out to be a veneer. Apparently, I have no control over this. Whether I like it or not, you are always going to get more than you bargain for. And some of it is going to stick whether you want it to or not. Sorry.

LONEWALKER intends to give you a doorway into an understanding of what it takes to be a true warrior. Male or female, it matters not. A more misunderstood/misused word in the English language than warrior, I do not know. I wrote this book in response to all the crap out there that passes itself off as the real deal. Ben Tails will take you on a journey that you only think you have imagined. For those of you reading this who have been or are part of Ben's world, well, all I can say is that this book is for you. Thank you.

A MURDER OF WOLVES is more of the same, but is rooted in people and places and events that are more accessible to most readers. I have a knack for humor and dialogue that comes fully alive in this book. The story and the characters who populate it is great fun. The female characters more than hold their own. But please make no mistake, neither of these books is for the faint of heart. The car in this book is a metaphor for the story itself. Climb in, put your seatbelt on, sit back, keep your hands off the steering wheel, and enjoy the ride. You are going places you never expected to go. You are going to learn things you never expected to learn.

When not writing, I have a passion for learning. A wise man once said that when you are through learning, you are through. I read more non-fiction than fiction, but only because good fiction writers are so hard to find these days. I love to read novels that teach. Parables, I think they used to call them.

Montana is in my bones--but so, too, are places and people in Asia . . .

Linda (lmgraber) | 1 comments Thanks Rick for bringing this group to my attention. My brother (retired dentist) and I have co-authored and published, "Patient's Dental Handbook"

www.patientsdentalhandbook.tateauthor...

The officially release date was January 29, 2013.

Our book provides information assisting patients to better communicate with their dentist and to make intelligent treatment decisions. The cost of dental care continues to increase. Dental insurance (if you're fortunate to have a policy) does not begin to cover cost of most treatments. We believe our book will help guide patients when seeking dental care.

I look forward to reading and learning from the many posts in this group. I've been told writing and publishing a book is the "easy" step...now we move forward to promotion and marketing.

Sarah Lalonde (sarahlalonde) Hello everyone,
I found this group by chance, and am happy I did!
My name is Sarah, and I have been a vegetarian for over 8 years now. I love animals and wildlife, spending much of my time out in nature photographing its beauty.
I own two black cats that were rescues. My partner Jeff and I chose black cats because they are the least likely colour to be adopted, and both cats and the little kittens are euthanized the most. So if you know anyone looking for a cat to love, let them know the significance of saving a black cats life.

I am an Author, and wrote about my life as a spiritual medium. I was born being able to see and hear the Other Side, and want to help others connect as well.

Nice to meet you all.

My latest fiction novel is in its 3rd edition. It was written to entertain and to raise awareness of what we might all face at some time. Very little has been written on this subject that is not a deep non-fiction book. Yet, there are 442 nuclear power plants operating or under construction in the world as of January 2011. The United States has 104. Whether it is a terrorist dirty bomb or a nuclear melt down - we should know what is happening and be prepared. I hope you will take the time to read this. The anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear tragedy is coming up March 11. Thanks. Barbara Griffin Billig.
