I'm the author of nineteen novels and numerous short stories published in print, but now available as ebooks. All but two of my books are mysteries set in Texas. They include the Sheriff Charles Matthews series featuring a Texas county sheriff; The ZMurder By series featuring criminal defense attorney John Lloyd Branson, brilliant, eccentric, and ruthless; and the Megan Clark series featuring an unemployed paleopathologist amateur sleuth and members of a mystery discussion group. All are humorous and full of eccentric characters, but also explore social issues such as nuclear waste disposal, dysfunctional families, corruption, and psychopathic killers. All are written under D. R. Meredith. Go to http://highwatermysteries.wordpress.com for blogs and links to Kindle, Nook, and Kobo.

Hello fellow readers and writers. I love old classic movies and books, though right now I am concentrating on mystery/suspense books of current time. This past year I published my first two books in that field. "Formula for Murder" and Game, Set, Murder," both listed on Goodreads. Any comments or review are welcome.Formula for MurderGame, Set, Murder
UH! Been around for a few minutes. Even made a few comments. ( I was nearly blinded by their brilliance, but it was most likely the single malt!) Currently have unleashed on the unsuspecting world, "Leopard's Moon" an anthology of short stories, ranging from out and out swordslingers, to a most definitely not the Federation tale, featuring people who don't look like Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian. On Amazon.com and Kindle.
Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself.
My novel, TRAPPED, won TAG Publishers "Next Great American Novel" contest. It was part of a Goodreads giveaway in November, but only six lucky readers (out of thousands of entries) got one. But there are over 500 of you who have marked it "to read." HURRY UP, PEOPLE :)Seriously, TRAPPED has garnered virtually all 5-Star revies on Amazon (23 to date), with the pervading comment, "I couldn't put it down." Available in both softback and Kindle, and for those who don't own a Kindle, did you know you can download to ANY e-reader or computer, a free Kindle app from Amazon. Any Kindle pub is available to anyone owning any e-reader. Smart people, Amazon!
Hope some of you read and enjoy TRAPPED, and I'd love a few reviews on Goodreads, too.

Hello! My name is Joe “Tuffy” Tofuri and I would like to thank Rick for being so kind as to allow me entry into his group. So thank you, Rick!I am the published author of six novels and a film screenwriter. I am also a retired USAF Master Sergeant and Vietnam Veteran...which means I have a few years on me! I am also a licensed Private Detective and have been in that business for almost 25-years.
My writings are eclectic – drama, comedy, action/thrillers, military, family and most recently, horror, in the form of my new book release entitled “Lobisón”, a werewolf novel. As I explained to Rick, Lobisón is based on the Argentinean lore of the werewolf. However, when I developed the manuscript I avoided the usual plot themes devoted to werewolf lore, books and films…the protagonist is bitten by a werewolf…he fears the full moon…he fears he will kill his love interest…he changes from human to beast and back again, and most of all, he can only be killed with a silver bullet.
In Lobisón the protagonist spends 38 years of his life in a relentless search for the huge pack of gigantic biped werewolves that massacred his platoon of Marines in Vietnam. He kills them with specially designed weapons and in hand-to-hand combat. He nicknames the leader of the werewolf pack “Poppa” because of the grey hair across the giant beast’s head. In actuality, Poppa was the first born Lobisón from the 15th century and is the King of all the Lobisón beasts. You can find a synopsis of the book on my website www.authorsden.com/joettofuri .
Lobisón can be found on Amazon.com in Ebook kindle and print. There are two reviews…one great, the other poor. The great review came from Char Hardin, horror blogger and journalist who actually read the Lobisón book. The poor review was based on a free ten-page short story and synopsis of the book that the reviewer downloaded and obviously did not enjoy! However, all writers must be prepared to accept the bad reviews as well as all the good ones we receive. I will also add that I adapted a movie screenplay from the book and it won four screenplay festivals in 2011 & 2012…I’m extremely proud of that.
I was in the Air Force for 21 years. Almost 15 of those years were spent as a basic recruit Drill Instructor called a T.I. at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. I wrote a hilarious book about my adventures training all those recruits called “Tuffy’s Heroes-Revised Edition” which only took me 28 years to complete! The prior president of the “Military Writers Society of America” reviewed the book and wrote in his review… “Tuffy’s Heroes-Revised Edition” is the funniest book since MASH and CATCH 22!”. I’m very proud and honored to tell you that both the front and back covers of the book are endorsed by famed film and TV star, R Lee Ermey from “Full Metal Jacket” and “MAILCALL” fame. You can find the book at www.gipubs.com.
Should any members desire to ask me questions about myself or my work, please feel free to do so and I’ll be more than happy to reply. Thank you all very much!

Welcome Joe..a most facinating post!!!
Fellow members, In the introduction post I made last evening, I made mention of two of my newest book releases – “Tuffy’s Heroes-Revised Edition”, my hilarious military book, and “Lobisón”, my werewolf story. All writers gather their inspirations from various mediums and disciplines. I had never considered developing a horror manuscript until I saw the remake of the great 1941 film, “The WolfMan”. Although an entertaining film, it still contained all the usual werewolf plot themes found in most werewolf stories and films. These plot themes I mentioned in my introduction post last night.
I decided I would take my shot at writing horror and conducted research concerning werewolf lore all over the world. I came upon the Argentinean lore of the Lobisón, also spelled with a ‘z’ instead of the ‘s’. But the Argentinean lore was limited and I immediately realized I would have to expand on it. But that’s all right considering the manuscript would be fiction. Okay, I had my werewolf lore…but now I needed three things – a great protagonist, a fierce antagonist…and a story plot!
One evening my wife and I watched a movie entitled: “The Marine”. It starred pro wrestler, John Cena. In the film, his character is an ex-battle-seasoned Marine and veteran of the Iraq War currently working as a security guard. His lovely wife gets kidnapped by blood-thirsty, killer thieves. John Cena’s character spends the entire film in a relentless search for his wife, and I mean relentless! This relentless pursuit caused me to ask the very famous ‘writer’s question’…What if?
Now I had my plot theme…the relentless search and pursuit of the beast. I sat behind my computer, brought up Word, and began to write; fully realizing I would completely avoid ALL the usual werewolf themes I mentioned earlier. I developed a 15th century Lobisón King, the first-born beast nicknamed “Poppa” by the protagonist. Poppa develops seven packs of Lobisóns, each lead by their gigantic Alphas. My protagonist is named Jackson Keller who suffers from ‘survivor’s guilt’ after his entire platoon is massacred by Poppa and his vicious pack. Jackson’s hunt for Poppa is relentless and lasts 38 years of his life. Along the way he learns all about the Lobisóns who once bitten by a beast and survive, become the beasts themselves…but never change back to human, and are unaffected by the full moon.
So members, I hope I haven’t bored you to death with this rather lengthy post of my ‘what if’ writer’s question concerning my werewolf book, “Lobisón”!

Hi! I'm Diane Thomas. My debut novel, The Year the Music Changed, was traditionally published in 2005. My second novel, In Wilderness, is with an agent, and I'm working on my third. I'm excited to be a part of such a vibrant community of writers. I'm new to all this and hope I'm doing it right.
My most recent novel, Goodbye Emily, follows three baby boomers who relive their trip to Woodstock in '69. One final roadtrip. One last chance to say Goodbye Emily.Thrilled with the inital response. Two Woodstock icons, Wavy Gravy and Country Joe McDonald endorsed the novel. 16 Amazon readers have rated it five stars. I'm proudest of all about the Vietnam Veterans of America Books in Brief review. You can check them all out on www.goodbyeemily.com

I have just had my first novel, "Elena", published by May December Publications. This paranormal thriller raises the question "What if your best fantasy came true, and then became a nightmare?" Teddy, an isolated teenager, is obsessed with sex, and believes that he will never have any.But one night, a lovely, scantily clad girl walks out of his closet! Her name is Elena and she promises to fulfill all his wildest fantasies, on one condition, that he never tell his family, his father and his beloved sister Ellen, about her. He agrees and she more than keeps her side of the bargain. He falls in love with her although her body is ice-cold and she has no heartbeat. Then his sister Ellen tells him that a girl named Elena is haunting her nightmares. Teddy keeps his promise to Elena by not telling Ellen about her, but he wonders why she is playing a double game with his family. Shortly afterward, Ellen's decapitated body is found behind their house. Teddy, an amateur detective vows to find the identity of the killer and of his mysterious lover. He succeeds, but what he discovers threatens his sanity, his life and even his soul.
"Elena" is available only on Amazon.com, as a paperback ($13.95) or on Kindle ($3.99). Amazon has a more complete synopsis and even sample chapters as well as four five-star reviews.
I was raised in Wisconsin but have spent my adult life in the San Francisco Bay area. I received a BA and an MA from the excellent creative writing program at San Francisco State University. I am a retired civil servant and live with my wife of 45 years in Oakland. I have actually written 3 novels; the first was for my MA and the second I'm still revising.

Thanks for inviting me, Rick. As I've mentioned before, James Mason should have won the Oscar for The Verdict. One of the greatest not to come away with a statue. An introduction for the folks in the group:
My name is Gare Joyce (a.k.a. G. B. Joyce). I'm a writer based in Toronto. I have worked in newspapers and magazines for thirty years, writing mostly about sports though I've ranged farther afield in news, politics, science, the arts, you name it. I have seven non-fiction books to my credit, but these days I'm most excited about my fiction. I had never written any fiction that escaped my filing cabinet until a couple of years ago. I was working at ESPN The Magazine when the bosses announced that they were going to publish a fiction issue with Dave Eggers (A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and too many titles to list) serving as editor. Eggers brought aboard a bunch of very established writers, Jess Walter among them. You practically needed to have a story published in the New Yorker to get into the party. I wrote a short story based on the true story of a former pro basketball player who went missing in Africa in the 70s. Amazingly, it made the cut--the first piece of short fiction I ever wrote went out in a magazine with a circulation of over two-million. No other sportswriters on staff, many amazingly talented in the field, made the grade.
Previously non-existant, a desire to write fiction surged. I started writing at a desperate pace.
Based on a sample of 17,000 words that I wrote in four or five days, Penguin signed me up to write a mystery series set in the world of pro hockey. The first book in the series, THE CODE, came out in Canada in January 2012 and in the US in September 2012. It has been optioned by EOne. Say a prayer for me. My second mystery in the series, THE BLACK ACE, will be out in Canada in three weeks (March 2013) and in the U.S. this fall. I'm currently working on Book III which will be set in Moscow and come out on the eve of the Winter Olympics in Sochi next year. (I'm going to be coy about its title. Just superstitious.) Penguin Canada is also publishing an ebook-only fantasy with a hockey theme in a week or so: EVERY SPRING A PARADE DOWN BAY STREET: AN EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT OF THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS 45 CONSECUTIVE STANLEY CUPS. It might seem like the book doesn't need much explanation beyond that but it is in fact the fictional memoir of an old hack sportswriter. It's also a paean to hockey in an era long past that also evokes Toronto of my youth and takes the piss out of every hack sportswriter I have met (and they are legion).
Please visit my website with Penguin:
www.bradshade.com.
Also, please like my facebook fan page:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/GB-Joy...
On the latter I post short stories featuring my series' protagonist, a former professional journeyman named Brad Shade. On that page you'll also find the story from ESPN The Magazine's fiction issue, JOHN BRISKER'S GREATEST GAME.
I look forward to any feedback and please don't hesitate to drop me a line.
