Hi Everyone, I'm happy to apart of the group. My name is Jayme. I love to read, my favorite genres are fantasy, science fiction, and comedy. I'm a fantasy author. My book, The Adventures of Miss Mind Shift is available in ebook stores.
Kevin,Congratulations on a very great start in the world of publishing! Those are strong endorsements. I'm so glad the world of publishing is changing and enabling new authors to get their works out for the public to judge. In the "old" world, novellas had virtually no chance of publication.
I've published three books set in WWII. The first, "Chasing the Wind" is set in the Battle of Britain and late Wing Commander Bob Doe wrote me a handwritten letter to say it was "the best book" he had ever read about the Battle because "it got it smack on the way it was for us fighter pilots" -- but it didn't sell! I re-issued it in a Kindle edition under the title "Where Eagles Never Flew" last year, and at last sales are creeping up. So "Hurray for Kindle" and keep up the good work!

Hm. Just discovered "Where Eagles Never Flew" isn't on my list of books on Goodreads. I'll have to get it added. Meanwhile, if interested, you can find out more about it on amazon or at my author website: http://helenapschrader.com
Would like to thank Rick for the invite, and then say I not only love the group name, but the mission statement in your "Group Rules" as well. If you get a chance to read my "Why I Write" blog from a couple weeks ago http://themoronideception.blogspot.com/ , I think you'll find that I should fit in pretty well. If you like mystery/conspiracy thrillers in the vein of "Da Vinci Code" and "Dragon Tattoo," you can find out more about my first novel, "The Moroni Deception," both on Goodreads and at my website http://themoronideception.com/ where you can read the first 13 chapters. Look forward to participating in future group discussions, and would just add, I started Martin Cruz Smith's "Havana" last night. Very good so far. -JB

Hello everyone. My name is Joyce Faulkner and I write...and read...in two genres -- Historical Fiction and Mystery/Thrillers. My most recent book is WINDSHIFT. It is historical fiction about the Women Air Service Pilots(WASP) during WW2. Last year, I released USERNAME which is a scary Mystery/Thriller about an aging serial killer who turns to the internet to lure his victims -- and an identity thief who finds her victims there as well -- and they target the same woman. All my work is on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. WINDSHIFT will also be available on iTunes shortly as an enhanced iBook. USERNAME will also be available there as an audio book.I am currently reading Carolyn Schriber's marvelous historical novel, THE ROAD TO FROGMORE, which is about the Port Royal Experiment during the Civil War. As always, her books are well-researched AND so well-written that I have to make myself put it down or I wouldn't get ANY work done.
Anyway, thanks for the invitation, Rick. I look forward to the conversation.

Thanks Rick for the invitation. It's a pleasure to be part of a group connected to the greatest actor never to have won an Oscar. Again, thanks Rick and welcome everyone.
Hello Everyone,I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of a professor, and travelled abroad for the first time at the age of two, when my father went to teach at the University of Wasada in Tokyo, Japan. Later, after time in Ann Arbor, the family lived in Brazil, England and Kentucky, but home was always the coast of Maine. There, my father’s family had roots. We had an old, white clapboard house perched above the boatyard in East Blue Hill.
It was the frequent travel and exposure to different cultures, peoples and heritage that inspired me to start writing creatively and to focus on historical fiction. I will never forget my father leading me through the Colosseum in Rome and explaining laconically "This is where they fed the Christians to the lions." My imagination was instantly ignited! Just where had they kept the lions? And where had the Christians been? Why hadn't the run away or hid? Such are the seeds of great works of fiction!
I never wanted to be forced to write what would sell at the expense of writing what was in my heart, however, so I decided not to pursue a "career" in writing. Instead I studied history at the University of Michigan, added a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Commerce from Patterson School, University of Kentucky, and finally rounded off my education with a PhD in History from the University of Hamburg. The latter was earned with a ground-breaking dissertation on a leading member of the German Resistance to Hitler, General Friedrich Olbricht.
After that I worked as an investment advisor with Merrill Lynch and as an investor relations manager with a German bank, an American internet company and a German venture capital fund before joining the U.S. Foreign Service.
I published my first book in 1993, when my dissertation was released by a leading academic publisher in Germany; a second edition followed the following year after excellent reviews in major newspapers. Since then I have published three non-fiction books, starting with "Sisters in Arms" about women pilots in WWII, "The Blockade Breakers" about the Berlin Airlift and "Codename Valkyrie," a biography of General Olbricht, based on my dissertation. I have also published several award-winning historical novels set in World War Two and Ancient Sparta and a trilogy set the Middle Ages. For more information, visit my website: http://helenapschrader.com
I grew up sailing on the Maine coast and served as a petty officer on the sail-training schooners "Sir Winston Churchill" and "Malcolm Miller." I have owned three horses over the years and remain a resolute - if not particularly good - horsewoman. Last but not least, I own property in what was once Lacedaemon, where my husband and I plan to retire in the (not so) distant future.

Well, I've been lagging behind on my interactions. It has been a busy six months for me that my to-read list is in the hundreds and I feel like a heel for all the books I've picked up and abandoned since August.I'm Benjamin Smith. I am a goodreads author but I'm not going to overtly promote my book right now because if you like me you'll find me and it'll be all the more fun for you.
My big event coming up in January is I get to have my copy of a book I'm enthralled with at present signed by the author. I'm also planning on finishing the final draft of my next book and proofing it for publication sometime around March or April provided I can't find a LA interested in taking it to the big boys.

I've been a member of this group forever but have just managed to get my life to slow down a little so I am officially stopping in to introduce myself and say, "HIIII!" I'm a mom and a wife first but I'm also a writer. I've worked as a copywriter for about four years now and I've been working on my first novel for about a year. It's set to debut next summer.
I'm also an avid reader. I'm not really specific to one genre. I enjoy contemporary romance, fantasy, fantasy romance, murder, mystery, etc. I've even read a couple of zombie apocalypse books. Pretty much, I enjoy anything that keep my attention.
I'm a Gray's Anatomy and Vampire Diaries fanatic but I also like to laugh so I'm also slightly addicted to How I Met Your Mother. Movies are a bit more enticing to me than television shows though, especially rom-coms.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better and hope to spend some more time soon digging further into the group. Nice meeting you all!

I've been reading for a while but I guess it's time to stop lurking. I'm a Welsh writer and photographer living in the south of France after years teaching English. I've published 14 books, every which way except bestselling, and I look forward to meeting you.At the moment I live in the 12th century and it suits me, so I'll probably stay there awhile in my historical novels.
I'm not finding it easy to figure out the threads and groups so buzz me if I get the etiquette wrong or miss something.

Sword of MarathonHi Everyone, I'd like to thank Rick for inviting me to this group. If there's anything anyone would like to know about my first novel, Sword of Marathon, or how I'm progressing on its sequel dealing with the battles of Thermopylae and Salamis, then I'm more than happy to respond. All I can say, is that King Leonidas is developing into something that has never been seen before, and Xerxes is even worse than I first imagined when I started writing this second book! :-) I'm currently reading Snow Crash, by Neal Stephenson, and working my way once again through the Aubreyiad, by Patrick O'Brian, which is something I do once every couple of years. FYI, Sword of Marathon was previously only available on Amazon, as either a Paperback or a Kindle eBook version, but it is now available on iTunes, Barnes & Noble, and
Smashwords, in various eBook and paperback formats.
