Hello everyone. My name is David Thayer. I've reviewed thrillers and crime fiction for Collected Miscellany, January Magazine, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Now it's my turn in the barrel as a thriller writer.
In September 2012 I published a trilogy featuring New York detective Armand DiPino. While the books aare in a series in the sense of recurring characters they can be read as standalones.

My name is Marti MacGibbon, and I want to thank Rick for inviting me to join this group! I'm a standup comic, addiction treatment specialist and the author of Never Give in to Fear: Laughing All the Way Up from Rock Bottom. It's a fast-paced and darkly funny memoir, and you can download the e-book free -- the offer ends Dec. 3rd. Here is the link on amazon.com: http://ow.ly/fuVA7 I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and Indianapolis, alternately, am a voracious reader, and look forward to this group's members' recommendations. I love the classics, inspirational true stories and anything that is well-written.
Hi Rick, thanks for inviting me to join your book club. You can find my first book on Smashwords http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...
Here's my blurb:
"Everyone's life is a story. Mine became more of one than I ever imagined possible. All I wanted to do was get my movie made. How did I know this dream would take me across three continents? How could I know I'd become part of an IRS sting? I never expected a baby-faced conman would destroy my life nor did I expect to see apartheid in South Africa or be arrested in New Orleans and much more. "
Apparently some of the people who bought it thought it was more enjoyable to read than to live :) :
Review by: Matt Gallagher on March 07, 2011 : *****
Sharp, entertaining, and fun read. There are larks for the sake of larks, and then there are stories like this - "A Story Almost Told" transcends just one man's journey, and captures the wildness and unpredictability of the human experience. Recommended.
(By the Way, Matt's book "Boom" got wonderful reviews in the New York Times)
"Review by: Bill Jackson on March 29, 2011 : *****
Ditto on bleary-eyed laptop viewing. Just kept advancing the pages. A fun, but easy, read of crazy experiences. Can't imagine there aren't many more episodes waiting to be written. Will be on the lookout for future efforts by Karlsruher.

Review by: A MR on March 27, 2011 : *****
A lot of fun. Karlsruher makes it easy to picture yourself in his own shoes, living day to day in the sexy, funtime world of Los Angeles, hanging on in Europe and South Africa. At times intensely gripping -- Karlsruher builds the tension up so well that you fear the worst. Coming of age tale? I don't know -- something tells me that his life never slowed down. I'm looking forward to Part II.

I read this over the weekend and it was a fast read indeed!
It seems like Rick took an improbable mini- odyssey that had more twists and turns than Alice in Wonderland - and in a time window than most of us won’t be able to experience in a life-time. Thoroughly enjoyable. Of course, I was in my prime in the ‘70’s and that was the time of LIVING life large.
(reviewed within a week of purchase)"
By the way, I hope to be announcing a new venture very soon that will help a group of new authors. It will be unique and fun for all the members of James Mason Book Club.
I hope it's OK, but if you want to contact me directly about the book email me rick@mylifecard.com
Thanks again. I hope I haven't gone overboard.

Hello and thank you for the oppertunity to say a few words about Gideon's Loop. The sci-fi adventure is the 1st in a series called The Gideon Legacy and is available at amazon.com and is recieving 5-star reviews. You can read the 1st part on line and more info at http://amazon.com/author/terrypersinger. You can also e-mail me tlpmag@aol.com The book is about good versus evil with a twist, it has DNA manipulation that Hitler was developing for his master race and secret technologies given to him by a group called the Elite, who some say have ruled the world since the beginning of time. H.P Gideon was one of the scientists forced to work for Hitler on this project and decided to steal the technology and smuggle it to the U.S. and form a group called the Patriots to stop the Elite from using it to finish what they had already started. Gideon's Loop is a great read for all the sci-fi readers, chack it out and tell all your friends! thank you for your time.

Hello all,My name is Steven. I saw a Retweeted post of Rick's on my twitter feed which prompted me to check out this group. I can remember reading novels since the age of eight and I'm about to publish my first one.
I own a Kindle but I still love to browse bookstores! My tastes are all over the board, I just love a good story, to include screen stories. Looks like several interesting forums here. Look fwd to interacting w/ new avid readers.
Good Day to all good readers:)My name is Carol and I hail from Australia, half way across the world from most of you, I am sure. As an introduction, I would like to make you acquainted with myself and my writing.
I am very excited about this novel - The Unseen Promise. It is the first book from the Tarkeenia Sagas and is soon to be published.
I am a mother, a writer and reader all wrapped into one, someone who loves to garden and travel, and I get my very best ideas for writing by swimming.
On Goodreads is a list of the books I have posted and in the spirit of sharing, I hope to see more of you as time goes on.
Please read a short synopsis of this book. I am delighted to share the content of this gritty, fast-paced story with you.
Set on the world Tarkeenia, the story marks the struggle between God and man, magic and indefinable evil. It is awash with life. Monsters walk the shadows and the tip of balance between dark and light, good and evil is tenuous even on a good day.
Flesh eating Specks, turn the living into dust, and the world is no longer safe. Murrdocks are stories woven to enchant and incite fear and Roedanth just wants his brother back, it doesn’t matter that the boy is dead. The young copper apprentice can’t seem to stop wishing.
Strangers become friends, out of necessity more than compatibility, for survival takes on the order of the day. Uneasy alliances are tainted by betrayal and self gain, and unlikely heroes emerge to salvage what they can, from a world on the brink of chaos.
Everyone strives to make do in a world bubbling with wild magic, working to remain true to their Calling. Can Tarkeenia survive the tug and pull of the very spoilt and the very wicked? Can those lost, to the dark, find a way back to the light? Is it possible to forget, or forgive and begin again? All these questions and more are answered, as the reader walks Tarkeenia’s many paths.

Hi Rick and all members, When I grew up in New York, Eisenhower was president, no one beat the Yankees, and Elvis was still an unknown. TV was three channels and two colors, black and white. Growing up, I didn’t particularly like school. I liked baseball, egg rolls and comic books, and it was Superman that got me interested in reading and writing.
Raised in Long Island and educated in Washington, I kept moving south after college, eventually learning all they left out at journalism school at the feet of street-smart newspaper editors in Florida and South Carolina.
In 1985, one of those editors found me presentable enough to send back to D.C., this time as correspondent for the Tampa Tribune. The job ended four years later, and I found myself in steep competition for a similar slot with the Charleston, S.C. paper. I remember pumping the Charleston editor’s hand and pleading, “Please don’t let me become a press secretary.” The man was merciful, enabling nine more years of Washington reporting, and front row exposure to the real South, as Charleston is far deeper into Dixie than Tampa, geography be damned. As time wore on, my NY sensibilities blended with Southern convention to produce stories on intriguing topics such as public celebration of the Confederate flag, and segregationist Senator Strom Thurmond. It was a great time until Charleston ran out of cash and shuttered its one-man D.C. bureau. Out in the cold, I - by this time a father of three ravenous, athletic, college-bound children - found warmth in a little known federal agency. I began as a speechwriter and today head the agency’s web and new media team.
Though Bella is my first real fiction, some thin-skinned politicians would say the stories I wrote about them were just as fabricated. In fact, no fiction bubbled up until I earned my license to write in the Johns Hopkins Masters program in 2000. During this time, I also reentered the classroom at American University, my alma mater, and began teaching journalism classes. My insistence on clean, tight writing did no lasting harm to the three afore-mentioned children, now taxpaying adults in the fields of public relations, art therapy, and engineering. It wasn’t until years later that I learned that the kids snuck secret help from their mom, a special education administrator in the Montgomery County (Md.) Public School System.
This was an important year for me. Bella won two Indie awards, and I launched a prequel titled Bootlicker.
Thanks for the invite; in turn, I'd like to invite folks to visit my site and check out the trailers: www.stevepiacente.com

My name is Jane McBride, I'm an American, and I live in Utah. My fave things to read are British mysteries. I occasionally read the American ones, but for whatever reason, they don't compare and I usually can't get into them. I'm also an author of romantic comedies. I'm a Mormon, and my nmain characters are too (but being set in NY, most of the other characters are not Mormons). And, I love James Mason-one of the greatest actors and animal activists of the 20th century. Reigning Cats and DogsA Little Hair of the Dog
I am a writer...I earn my daily crust by putting pen to paper.
Each day brings something new...
an article; a blog post; five hundred words to advance my novel!
Time is a thief/ procrastination a seductress/ sloth my enemy.
Writer's block is illusionary and a lie...
Formulating sentences, paragraphs and tales begin with the rising sun.
I observe, dissect, analyze and construct...
Characters, dialog and plots spring forth into creation.
The single most important task each and every day is to capture
these words on paper!
When the sun descends, prior to sleep, I look into the mirror and
query, "What have I written today?"
Nothing else matters...
I am a writer.

Thank you Rick for the opportunity and privilege to share our books. My name is O. J. Toks. I'm the author of REJECTED FOR A PURPOSE: HOW GOD USES REJECTION TO HELP YOU FIND AND FULFILL YOUR DESTINY.This book will enlighten and encourage anyone dealing with rejection, whether from family, friends, significant others, in their profession, churches, or for their convictions.
About 2 weeks ago, a lady emailed me to tell me that she had bought the book, Rejected for a Purpose, a year ago. She mentioned that she had to pick it up to read again because of something she was going through. She just wanted to let me know how the book was helping her.
As you all shop for gifts for your loved ones, family and friends, I hope you consider getting the book for them, too. The general consensus is that the Christmas season is one of giving, love, and festivities. Sadly, this season is also marked with people who experience the opposite. This season reminds them of what, or who they've lost or are lacking in their lives. It makes them feel unwanted and lonely.
You might know someone who's going through the above and then some. Rejected for a Purpose is a gift that keeps on giving. It's one of those books that you can take like medicine when needed. Chances are that someone will try to oppose, overlook or dismiss you in the near future. When this happens, Rejected for a Purpose injects you with a huge jolt of hope and inspiration.
The reviews of the book from amazon below will give you an idea of how the book is a blessing. You can get the book from my website www.ojtoks.com. The book is also on sale for $10.
You can read the reviews here:

Hi, my name is Mary Clark and I look forward to reading the work of other writers in this group. My book, Tally: An Intuitive Life, published by All Things That Matter Press, will be out in 2013. It's about a Greenwich Village Bohemian artist who turns to the study of human nature after a death experience in mid-life.
Hello Everyone, and thank you for the invitation, Rick. I love to read mysteries, thrillers, romance, adventure, biographies and social histories, so this sounds just the place for me!Ten minutes ago I finished the most marvellous 'Downton Abbey with Ghosts type of book called Gather The Bones by Alison Stuart, set in 1922. The suspense made me hold my breath and the love story that underpinned it made me cry.
I've just been shortlisted for Choc-Lit Publishing's 'Search for an Australian Voice' competition for a Regency Romantic Intrigue spanning the French Revolution to Waterloo. Nice to 'meet' you and, in case you're interested in my website is: www.beverleyoakley.com.

Hi, everyone.I've just joined goodreads and this is my first Group. I would welcome anyone getting in touch. I'm UK-based and enjoy good literary fiction from around the world.
I also recently released my first story, 'Paper Gods and Iron Men' on Kindle. Here's the blurb if you want to check it out:
"A single three-bladed fan turned slowly in the centre of the ceiling, barely disturbing the scorching air which filled the small prefabricated hut like an oven..."
Set in the North Africa Campaign of World War II, the novella, 'Paper Gods and Iron Men', is a story of endurance and survival, of ordinary people in extraordinary situations. Two British Army officers have come together at a temporary aerodrome to be flown out. When their plane is shot down the two are the only survivors and begin the long trek north across the desert...
The Kindle edition is published with the short story, 'Flanagan's Mule', which shares the theme of personal determination and resolve, and which is set in a South-American mining community in the 1950s.
