D.C. McMillen (DCMcMillen) | 1 comments Thanks for adding me, Rick!

I'm an erotica author from Canada with a short story called The Rental (MuseItHot Publishing) and a novella called The Rusty Nail (Rebel Ink Press). I have a cute little story about to come out. It is about a threeway between a girl, her new neighbour and her Hitachi Magic Wand. Obviously, I like a little humour in my books. I have a few short stories in various anthologies floating around the net and in print.

I'm currently living on my tiny sailboat, which is the perfect setting to spend my days writing and reading (I read most any any genre) but it totally sucks for doing laundry, which is why I have to go back to the city about once a week or so.

Nice to meet everyone, and I hope to get to know at least a few of you.

Mark Souza | 13 comments Thanks for inviting me to the group, Rick.

I am a multi-genre author from Washington State. My debut novel, Robyn's Egg , is out on Amazon. It's futuristic novel about a couple trying to buy a baby. The protagonist is no hero and would do almost anything to avoid trouble. But that's not the way things work out. There are almost four chapters in the "Look Inside" feature on Amazon to test whether Robyn's Egg is something that might interest you.

I also have an anthology of horror short stories on Amazon with another to come in September (nothing to gruesome).

I read a wide variety of genres, from literary fiction, mysteries, thrillers, horror, and even the occasional romance or fantasy. It's characters and writing capable of transporting me out of my world into another that captures me. Because I am very busy I don't read as much as I'd like. I usually only read one book at a time and none too swiftly (it drives my wife nuts).

It will be nice participating in the discussions and getting to know you.

I also have a free short story out, called Before, which is told from Eros's first-person point of view. (Get it free on Smashwords) I have another short story, I Come Bearing Souls, that will be in the Two and Twenty Dark Tales Anthology this fall. It's a twisted version of the Hey Diddle, Diddle rhyme and draws on ancient Egyptian mythology.
I am constantly reading -- always YA -- and increasing Indie (since I'm Indie myself). I love PNR and contemporary.DestinedJessie HarrellBeforeTwo and Twenty Dark Tales: Dark Retellings of Mother Goose Rhymes

Ian | 3 comments I didn't realise I'd been away that long!!! I just had to rejoin!! I went to post on a thread and was told I couldn't as I wasn't a member!!!
Anyway, just to let everyone know why I've been absent, apart from having a bad attack of 'the blues', I've been going through that tedious process of getting my new book ready, and this one proved VERY tedious to get it right! The good news, as from dinner time today, the follow up to 'The Day the Ravens Died' called 'The Undefended Land' is now available world wide.
As there is, for once, the prospect of a good nights sleep now the worry of getting things 'just so' has retreated I think I'm off to bed. Night Night all.
And to any of you who have been waiting for the new book, I hope it does not disappoint.
All the best Paul Rix [oldgeezer]

If you are interested in reading it, it is on Amazon. Look for Deception by Cyndi Goodgame.

Roy Griffis (roymgriffis-storyteller) | 2 comments James Mason was a great actor. My first high-school love adored Mason, so we watched anything that came on TV with him, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" being a repeat viewer.

For myself, I decided to be a writer when I was ten, and I've never looked back. Along the way, I've been a waiter, a janitor, bookstore salesman, EMT, PC tech, and I was even one of the first 100 Aviation Rescue swimmers in the US Coast Guard (because everybody knows you can't be a real writer without some experience).

My newest novel is By the Hands of Men available on Amazon or at http://bythehandsofmen.com

Of this volume, Kirkus Reviews said: “With elements reminiscent of Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms, in the midst of World War I, a relationship develops between an English lieutenant and a young Russian nurse—a surprising tenderness against the backdrop of war...with likable characters, spending more time in the Old World is an appealing prospect.”

Everyone has heard that war is hell, but a young Russian émigré, Charlotte Braninov, experiences the horror and devastation firsthand as a volunteer nurse for the English Army in 1917.

Stranded without her surgical team less than 500 feet from the front lines she encounters a wounded English soldier, the almost inappropriately courteous Lieutenant Robert Fitzgerald. With his help, she saves the life of a grievously wounded man, but in the press of new casualties, he slips away before she has time to thank him. As the long days pass, she realizes that the hands of that man, for a little while, brought salvation instead of savagery.

When Charlotte returns to her normal post at Base Hospital No. 12 in the French countryside, she is surprised to encounter the man she now thinks of as Her Knight. As punishment for a no-man’s land mission of mercy that went wrong, Fitzgerald has been demoted to supply officer for the Hospital. Far happier to see him than she should be, Charlotte resolves to remain completely professional about the young officer. Yet she cannot avoid him entirely. When Fitzgerald comes to the aid of a bullied orphan with an injured cat, Charlotte and Fitzgerald work together to treat the small kitten. Over this shared labor, the first small spark of love begins to heat their hearts.

A quiet and entirely proper relationship grows between them, but the war will demand a toll, and both Robert and Charlotte will suffer losses greater than they could have imagined.

Thanks for having me, and I hope to be able to spend some time among my fellow book lovers as my writing allows (I'm up to page 460 on Book Two, and hope to have it completed by early Fall).

Chris Jackson (chrisajackson) | 5 comments Hello all, and thanks to Rick for the invite!

I'm a Fantasy/Science Fiction author. Recent writing credits include three sequential gold medal awards from ForeWard Magazine's Book of the Year competition, for the first three novels in the Scimitar Seas series of nautical fantasy. The fourth in the series will be released in September.

I have also recently finished a novel for Paizo Publishing, a Pathfinder Tales novel, also nautical fantasy, set in their gaming world of Golarion. This has been a goal of mine for years, and was such fun to write that I finished the rough draft of the novel in a little over a month! Of course, editing took two additional months...

You can see all of my novels on my Goodreads author page, or get a bigger taste on my website, www.jaxbooks.com where I have chapters of all of my novels posted, and even an audiobook of satire SF to stream for free. If you like to laugh, check out Cheese Runners... Because the only weapon against the evil aliens is a nice...sharp...cheddar!

All of my book reviews are also posted on my website blog page for easy reference.

Once again, glad to be here!

Chris

Ian McClellan | 7 comments Hi all. I'm Ian from Ireland/New York/ Florida (weird accent) I published my first novel about a month ago and all seems to be going fairly well, although I do still head off to work every day at 5 A.M. I've been on a few author sites and am finding I like Goodreads exponentially more than any other. I've been a horror addict since I was a wee lad and watch a lot of horror movies, but my reading taste is much more diverse.

Zombie Apocalypse 2012: A Political Horror Story is a horror novel oozing with political and social satire. I just got my 6th review on Amazon today and they've all been very positive.

Dave DiGrazie (davedigrazie) | 3 comments Hi, I'm Dave DiGrazie, and my second novel "See John Play" has earned a readership approaching 6,500, which I'm very grateful for. It's got some reviews on Goodreads, and in my fit of shameless self-promotion I ask for more reviews both here and on Amazon!

I try to write literature that is fun; whose heroes and villains are realistic (to me, that means that my good guys have flaws and my bad guys [usually] have their good points; but underneath the fun I hope there are life lessons that challenge all of us to - shall I say - get in step with the Universe...

I'm still learning how to be a good citizen on Goodreads and time for online interactions is often short, but I always make it a point to give a personal note of thanks to readers. I may also occasionally share tips about making great-tasting and nutritious home-made pizza! For examnple, garlic-sauteed asparagus tips make a great pizza topping!
