Max | 9 comments My first novel ever, Nightfall: Book One of the Nightsong Space Opera, has been pre-published to Amazon. It will be distributed through Amazon starting June 15.
In her original form as a sci-fi TV pilot manuscript, Nightfall was read by Ray Bradbury.
I am expecting my Beta readers to report back by April 30 with suggestions for final polishing (Amazon will let me update book files until June 5). I expect that by May 5-7 I should be 100% done, even with final polishing touches.
After that, I am more than willing to send copies to any members of these Space-Opera-Fans forums who are willing to help generate reviews/buzz for my baby.
I will be willing to send .doc, .docx, .odt, or to convert files to Epub or Mobi (there seem to be lots of free converters available online).
I think I can say that by May 7 I should be completely done polishing...and you guys can get first crack not only at my new book (for free) but also at reviewing a first-time novelist who intends to start a star-empire =}
Of course, to post a Verified Review on Amazon for it, you'll need to actually get the book through Amazon after June 15...but I intend to set my "free days" for the first six days the book is available, so you will simply be able to "buy it" for free in the first week it's available. If that plan somehow gets torpedoed by Amazon, I will "Amazon Gift" $10 to anyone who wants to help me out. 3 for my book, 3 to buy another copy of my book as a gift for someone you think might like it, and 4 to buy a competitor's work, and leave a nice review of his book, with a link to mine.
{As an aside, I will not be able to distribute my book though Goodreads, due to Amazon contract, at least for 90 days after June 15}

Nightsong is an adult high-action space opera, in the vein of "Star Wars for Grown-Ups," and some have said "Game of Thrones in Space." Although I prefer the former. It is action packed, with lots of sword-fights, gun-fights, commando raids, space battles, and a planetary sneak attack that kills one-million civilians. In the tradition of great space opera, it is all high-action and high-emotion.
Nightsong began as me writing a dark-themed Star Wars novel, when friends convinced me to turn it into my own universe, I started by changing it to a TV pilot manuscript, this was before the new BSG began production (I can speak to how Nightfall's script influenced BSG, as my agent DID send it to SyFy in 2000). Ray Bradbury read my script (!!!) and suggested that I change it back to a novel, in his words, "To preserve it's integrity from Hollywood." Following that advice took me until just this year.

Please reply to this thread if you are willing to help me out! I will distribute copies in preferred formats likely around a week into May.
