Cairnraiser | 53 comments Neverwhere seems to be a conflation of Neverland och Nowhere, and very appropriate too.

Door and her family all being named as points of entry and exit, to match their abilities.

Then we have the reinterpretation of locations around London, most notably the tube stations. "Knightsbridge" becomes "Night's Bridge", which is guarded by dreams and more specifically nightmares.
"Earl's Court" becomes a proper court of nobility, instead of a location. There's more of course, but I want to leave you to find and discuss what else is there.

What have you found, and what are your favorites?

♥ Rebecca ♥ | 51 comments Does that somehow apply to the Marquis' character in Neverwhere? I'm not really good at this analyzing stuff.

Robert (bigbobbiek) In addition to that, He always wants to have his hand in things. He becomes very upset when he does not have a bit of information, and hates having to admit he doesn't know. On top of that, the Marquis is a very clever person, like in how he gets vital information and in how he saves his own life, among several things.

Cairnraiser | 53 comments Did anyone else notice that the only two named Black Friars, unsurprisingly, had names synonymous with black or dark. Brother Sable and Brother Fuliginous.

Angie | 342 comments No I didn't notice that! That's interesting.

Cairnraiser | 53 comments I'd missed Brother Tenebrae, who's mentioned at the end of the book. If you look at the Columbia Encyclopedia definition it fits in perfectly as well.

Keith Yes! I knew there was something about his name but I could'nt place it.
