Hey! I had a buddy read schedule which I totally missed for January 15th for The Children of Húrin. Unfortunately can't remember who it was with (but I'm pretty sure they read it) and I can't find it anywhere in the group when I search which is weird... Any thoughts? I was gonna try and catch up.

BOTM threads are open for 5 days into the next month. So if you read the August book of the month on September 2nd, you could count it for the September challenge.
You can't count it for the August AND September challenges, you'll have to pick one

Hello! Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm trying to include a gif in a post and cannot seem to get it right. Every time, it says image error and I cannot figure out the correct way to type it. It's making me very frustrated with Goodreads' lack of modern technology.Here is the example that I'm trying to add

So it's src not scr and the only space is between img and src
Even still, sometimes I can't get it to work. GR is definitely not up to date and I don't think Amazon cares to fix that :(

If it's still active, meaning the last comment was made within 2 weeks from today, then you can make comments and get buddy points for that book. If it is not active, then you will need to find someone to read that book with .

I plan on reading them in publication order, so the series is going to be intermixed. I only see the Zodiac Academy set up, so can I also read the other two series in this same thread since they are all interlinked in the same world?
And if not, I know there is a two week time frame for them to stay active, so does that still apply if we have to separate (since some of these books have a lot of pages)?

Is the person you are buddy reading with on one series also doing the others? If yes, we can create or reactivate those series threads. Also, yes, the two-week time period in between comments will keep the buddy threads alive.
You can always make a comment on those threads every week if you want to make sure they are still active. It can be something simple, like: "still reading this, will jump back into [enter book name] soon..."

Yes, Grace is reading them with me. This is perfect, though. We can create the other series when we come close to getting to them since we do have, I think, 3 to get through first before we move to a new series.

Do both people doing BRs have to complete the book for a BR to be considered in the challenge? Also, can the same book be used by each of the buddies for different challenge tasks? Thank you!

No, you don't have to both complete the book in order for it to be a BR. If you finish before your buddy, or vice versa, you would still get the BR points.
Yes, no matter how many people read the same book (for a BR, BOTM, or otherwise), you can each post your book for a different task.

Quick Q: Are all the Buddy Reads planned for October going to end up being added to the October Planned Buddy Read page (I don't know if that's the correct wording). Like, I have buddy reads planned for October and I know they have threads, but I like to use the specific October Buddy Reads page as a quick reference guide to plan out my month, where you can easily see the cover, etc., to know what I have coming next, as opposed to sifting through the Thread Request page...does this make sense? No pressure, just curious, going to be doing my October planner soon and I always use that page as a reference guide. Thank you!

Added to the October BR planned thread. Yes, all BR's should be on their month's planned thread. If they aren't there, just let us know, and we will fix it.

Hello, a random question rather than one related to the group, but I thought there would be someone wiser than me who could answer this? ohm...Is there a way to mass delete your TBR on GoodReads? I want to start afresh - I added so many books I didn't actually own years back, and I want to repopulate it with the books I actually own... It's very tedious deleting them one by one...

Assuming you're using the desktop site, there is a Batch Edit option (see below screenshot). Batch Edit > Select All > Remove books from all shelves
Just make sure you're on your TBR shelf before using it or you may remove the books from the wrong shelf (the TBR shelf should be what you see at the top where I have Want to Read highlighted).
Don't select the 'Remove books from this shelf' option as that will just move all of the books to your Read shelf since you're editing an exclusive shelf and the system assumes you still want them shelved in some way when using that option.

That's the message that comes up when you hit the "remove books from this shelf" button. You need to hit the last one that says "remove books from all shelves" (it's the one that's not bolded like the first two options).
That should give you the message "This will completely remove the selected books from your shelves." and then you'd hit OK.

Above the comment box there is a link that says "(some html is ok)". Click on that and one of the options is for how to add an image.
So for example, here is the HTML for the screenshot I posted above but it would be without the * after the < at the beginning.

Wow, I did it - it took a while, but so much faster than if I'd had to keep at it one by one... thank you so much!

Hey (me again lol)General question about reading anthologies of short stories (I couldn't find the answer anywhere here, sorry if I missed it): if the challenge is ummm (let me find one)... "MC is royalty" for example, and one of the short stories in the collection had MC royalty, could you use that as a prompt for the whole book? (I hope that makes sense).
Otherwise, I'm not sure how anthologies can count... ?
EDIT - except for x+y in page number, author name, cover etc... okay, that's a lot of options lol, but still interested in the question!

Hi, I've just joined this group, and I'm a bit confused about what all the challenges mean. Like I see there is a BOTM but then I also see the Disney Challenge. Is there a post that explains how the group works? I noticed that there are teams as well. How do you get assigned to a team?
Not a mod but I can help. So every month/quarter there are a number of challenges going on.
BOTM = Book of the Month. Those are the 4 books posted at the top of the forum. Those books tend to add extra points to the challenges you take part in, but they aren't a challenge in themselves.
Disney Challenge = Current monthly team competitive challenge. There is a different challenge every month, August was Disney, September is Disney Villains. We read books to fill prompts to complete different Disney Villains and gain points. The team with the most points wins the month and can choose a book from the prize pool. To get assigned to a team you just have to post in the "Disney Villains" thread how many books you think you'll read this month and Alaina will get you sorted.
In addition to these there are competitive and non competitive challenges. Some are quarterly, some are yearly. There are team, and solo challenges.
Everything is optional, and it's really just for fun, but there are a lot of good books in the prize pool if you happen to be on the winning team.
You can also join a buddy read if you enjoy reading and discussing books with people. The list of upcoming buddy reads is a bit further down the forum, any that are coming up are open to join, or you can see if anyone wants to join you on a book you're interested in reading. Buddy reads also give additional points in challenges.
