Just finished chapter 8:
(view spoiler)[ I'm loving the story. It's going a bit slow, but I'm enjoying the setting so much that I actually like that the story takes its time to get going.
I trusted Henry, Will and maybe Nigel. But after hearing Will talk, I'm not so sure I can trust anyone. I was sure Will staying at the end of the chapter ment he's working for someone else, but I can't think he would betray Alfred after being friend for so long! (hide spoiler)]

Will brought humor and showed that Alfred is not just some loner Lord who has a sick wife and much rather stay at home then go out. I am surprised that we still have not met the wife yet. Hi, I've just started and I'm at 10%. I've been struggling with the writing style, mainly because I'm trying to read A Court of Thorns and Roses at the same time and they are so different.

I agree with Rachelle, I really like Will, he's (view spoiler)[ brought a bit of light humor to the novel and brought out a better, more interesting side of Alfred. (hide spoiler)]

I see you finished the book Sarah but just to answer your question for chapter 12 (view spoiler)[So I guess there's 2 sides. Nigel believes that the scabbard will heal and they get to choose who gets to live and die by selling it as a product I assume. While Will's organization believes in natural order and it is their mission to not let that happen.. It's a battle against Man v. God. (hide spoiler)]

So it's taken me forever to start, but I finally have! I'm only up to chapter 3, and loving it already. The writing style is really interesting, more formal than I was expecting. The main character seems overly polite, but in a good way :)

I really liked Will, so I'm a bit sad he's working against Alfred. He's still the best character though. And I'm terrified by the plan of the army! Although the thing of Nigel's identity was very clever. But a dead army? Especially with Beaumont? Ahhh! (hide spoiler)]

Finally finished! I'll try to do my review tonight :) (view spoiler)[ That last battle lived up to all my expectations! It was dramatic, stressful, and there was a LOT of death. Stephen was so brave. But I felt I didn't really know him well enough to be upset my his death... Same with Ellen. I liked the drama deciding what to do with the scabbard. They both had very good points, which is rare. Overall I think the book was well written. I liked the many twists it had, although I was sad that some of our characters had to die along the way, just when Alfred was so close to saving his wife he wasn't able to, I didn't like that Quinn had to die but like any good read, this things have to happen to give the story a more enchanting twist. I liked that Nigel was stopped but of course that was to be. It took me a long time to read this book because I could not seem to get into it.

With my second little one on the way, a very active 2-year-old, and a busy job, I'm not getting as much writing done these days as I'd like, but I'm hoping to be able to make some progress on this project soon. And, in case any of you are interested, I am noodling on some ideas for a follow up to The Camelot Shadow--we're a ways away from that happening, but I've got a few ideas down. ;)
