Got it! Thanks for bringing it to our attention! I am happy to have a new audiobook deal and I have been meaning to read some Georgette Heyer books, so this kind of combines things. :-)

I love her books, Paige and I was thrilled to see the chance of getting an audio version. Wish I had noticed the sale sooner, but glad I got the deets to someone who could use it.

message 53: by Anne (new)

Anne | 15 comments o_O Sprig Muslin only 3.95$?!? That's awesome!! I like that narrator, too. I recently started listening to Heyer on audio and really liked the ones I listened to.

Haha! Oh yeah, that was my reaction too, Anne.

Hey guys!

Just in case, you don't have them. Georgette Heyer's The Reluctant Widow and Venetia are Amazon sales for $1.99 ebook and for a few bucks more you can get Whispersync so you have the audio too. The Reluctant Widow by Georgette Heyer Venetia by Georgette Heyer

Ceri | 233 comments Gaaah, the price of Georgette Heyer books never seem to drop here

Ceri wrote: "Gaaah, the price of Georgette Heyer books never seem to drop here"

That's a bummer! Her ebooks are usually $9-10 US so when I see them on sale, I share. It happens now and then, but that's not cool that you all never get them on sale.

message 58: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 138 comments I got about 4 free when I signed up for Kindle Unlimited. But they are usually high.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 138 comments Thanks for the notice on those two - I picked them up.

You're welcome, Sheila! I'm glad these were ones that you needed. Always great to catch a book on sale.

Saw a GoodReads giveaway on a book that claims to be an Anne of Green Gables retelling so I had to share.

Ana of California by Andi Teran

message 62: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 233 comments That looks like something I would enjoy. I just went to add it to my Amazon wishlist and it's really expensive, over £11 on kindle, which is over $17! It's a pre-order though, so hopefully the price will drop soon :)

message 63: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Ouch! That is steep. I hadn't checked prices yet.

Never too late....

Haha! I can't throw any rotten fruit since there are plenty of must-reads that I've missed.

I, too, have not read this one. I am sure it is something I will get to sooner or later but then there are many Georgette Heyer books I need to read also. I think I read 5 of hers but she has so many.

Oh Monica, you really should, it's so good. I've read a lot of books by L.M. Montgomery and they have all been excellent reads.

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
I entered as soon as I got my enewsletter. Thanks for sharing, Monica!

message 68: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 233 comments did you see the giveaway for US readers on Austenprose? It's for the first two books in the Poldark series, 8 winners! http://austenprose.com/2015/06/09/ros...

message 69: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Oh yes! I entered that baby so quickly. ;) I've never read the books. I've only seen the older version of the TV series.

message 70: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (lumee23) | 39 comments I recommend the Jessica Dotta series but with reservations. It is more Bronte than Austen for sure. Not a light read at all. The heroine was flawed and could also be very frustrating so if you are easily bothered by that then don't read them.

It is one of those books that needs to be discussed so if you read it feel free to chat with me about it. I had to foist the series on my mother so I could talk to someone about it lol.

message 71: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
I love the Bronte stories too, Shannon. In fact, I have a Jane Eyre retelling on my kindle that I really need to read. Thanks for sharing this one that is in the Bronte style. I'll have to check the series out.

Ahnya Monica wrote: "I've never read Anne of Green Gables...

I read the first 2 as a kid, but then stopped. (I didn't read much when I was younger) I picked it back up a couple of years ago, and loved it.

message 75: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) In the “It’s not Jane Austen, but it’s really good” category, I’m currently reading the third mystery in a series set in Regency-era London. They are by S. K. Rizzolo, and the first is The Rose in the Wheel. These are not romances, they treat some of the grittier side of the era—but they are very well researched and written, and really give a vivid image of what London was like!

message 76: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
I read an author interview and a review on that first book, Abigail, a few months ago and I thought it sounded fab, too. Went right on the wish list.

Glad you could confirm it for me.

Hey guys!

If you have an Audible.com account, A Study in Scarlet by Arther Conan Doyle is on sale for the Deal of the Day for $1.95.

Here's the link: http://www.audible.com/pd/Mysteries-T...

message 81: by Ceri (new)

Ceri | 233 comments Ok, this isn't strictly Austenesque though many fans of Austen enjoy this author too. 'Frederica' by Georgette Heyer is down to £1.99 in the UK, down from around £6. The only Heyer that is usually ever that cheap is 'The Black Moth', which you can pick up for £1.49. 'Frederica' is my joint favourite Heyer, I'd highly recommend it! Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Thanks, Ceri--Frederica is wonderful Georgette Heyer!

message 83: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (lumee23) | 39 comments I just recently read Not by Sight and it was excellent. It is a WWI period novel about a suffragette and a peer that was working undercover as a spy. It is Christian fiction but the religious undertones were more subtly woven into the story than most.

message 84: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
@Ceri- I love Frederica. Glad its on sale. I'll have to see if the audio is on sale, too. I've started to collect some old favorites on audio so I can turn them on while doing chores.

@Shannon- that sounds really good. I love spy stories.

message 89: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 29 comments I highly recommend any of Julie Klassens novels, Sarah E. Ladd The Heiress of Winterwood, and the Paris Winter by Imogen Robertson. (hers takes place more in Paris during the early 1900s in the art world)

message 90: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Neat! Those last two are new to me authors. I'll have to scope them out.

message 91: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 29 comments just as a caution Paris Winter is different from JA stories, more of a suspense novel.
