Scott Grant has a bustling family practice in the small Oregon community of Thunder Point. The town and its people have embraced the widowed doctor and father of two, his children are thriving, and Scott knows it's time to move on from his loss. But as the town's only doctor, the dating scene is awkward. That is, until a stunning physician's assistant applies for a job at his clinic.

Peyton Lacoumette considers herself entirely out of the dating scene. She's already been burned by a man with kids, and she's come to Thunder Point determined not to repeat past mistakes. When Scott offers her a job, at a much lower salary than she's used to, Peyton is surprisingly eager to accept…at least for now. She's willing to stay for a three-month trial period while she explores other options.

Scott and Peyton know the arrangement is temporary—it isn't enough time to build a real relationship, never mind anything with lasting commitment. But love can blossom faster than you think when the timing is right, and this short visit just might hold the promise of forever.

Then we get a glimpse into her last working situation. SMH!!!!

I wonder what made Ted so attractive to Peyton because he seems smart but lazy. He shirks his child care on her and doesn't mind running around on her while she is at home with HIS kids. He doesn't seem interested in putting a ring on it NOR having kids wit her. (hide spoiler)]

I wondered at the time if (view spoiler)[part of it was the old doctor-nurse thing where she had all this hero worship going on, he doesn't live up to it but she's got to stick with him because her family warned her. You know how you keep praying that what you thought you saw in someone was still there and you're too ashamed to admit the truth. I think he just wanted someone to take care of him and that included the children. Creep. (hide spoiler)]

Hmmmm. but she was a doctor as well. (view spoiler)[ His kids were never nice to her. From her inner monologue, he was never really sweet to her. he was just like "you know things haven't been good between us for a while, I'll give you a generous severance package."

Whoa. I thought, he isn't even fighting for her. he doesn't want her! then I thought, how did she not know? i know Ted might be sneaky, but the nurse would have been walking around that clinic like the cat that ate the canary. Women are like that! That nurse would have been smirking at her at work.

That tells me Peyton isn't observant and doesn't see context clues. (hide spoiler)]

Peyton Lacoumette: Physician assistant from Portland who is looking for a new job and town. She's 35-years old and has dark hair and eyes.
Jenny Grant: Scott's 4-year old daughter.
Will Grant: Scott's 5-year old son.
Devon McAllister: Young woman with a four-year old daughter who fled from The Fellowship compound, She is 29-years old and has blonde hair (short, Meg Ryan style) and blue eyes. She's engaged to Spencer Lawson.Office manager for Scott's clinic and mother of Mercy.
Spencer Lawson: Formerly married to Bridget, Hank's ex-girlfriend who recently died of cancer. He moved to Thunder Point so Austin could be closer to Hank. He's now the Athletic Director and coach at the high school and is engaged to Devon. He has deep brown eyes.
Mercy McAllister: Devon's 4-year old daughter
Austin Lawson: Spencer's 10-year old son, Hank's biological son by Bridget.
Ted Ramsdale: Cardiologist in Portland who Peyton worked for prior to coming to Thunder Point.
Sarah Dupre Cooper: Former Search and Rescue helicopter pilot whose career in the Coast Guard supported her and her teenaged brother, Landon. She's recently divorced and has short, dark hair and big, chocolate eyes and is married to Cooper and is 9-months pregnant. She left the Coast Guard.
Hank (Cooper) Cooper: Full name is Henry Davidson Cooper. He's 37-years old and a former Army Helicopter pilot that formerly served with Luke Riordan. He was visiting Virgin River while in between jobs and came to Thunder Point after being notified of Ben's death and discovered he inherited his property. He's redeveloped the bait shop into a beach bar, Ben & Cooper's. He's engaged to Sarah and has established roots in Thunder Point. He recently found out he has a 10-year old son, Austin, from a previous relationship with Bridget Lawson, who died of cancer. He's now married to Sarah Dupre.
Landon Dupre: Sarah's younger brother and ward who is dating Eve McCain. He was the high school quarterback and is starting college at the University of Oregon in the fall.
Roger (Mac) McCain: Deputy sheriff who becomes friends with Cooper. He is 36-years old, tall, sandy-haired and blue-eyed. He's called Deputy Yummy Pants by the local teenage girls. He's been friends with Gina for a long time but only recently become romantically involved with her and they're now married. Father of Eve, Ryan and Dee Dee.
Gina McCain: Formerly Gina James. Works at the diner and is Ashley's mother. She's wanted a relationship with Mac for quite some time and recently got involved with him romantically and is now married to him. She is 33-years old with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Eve McCain: Mac McCain's daughter who is dating Landon.
Rawley Goode: Vietnam veteran and former Green Beret who worked for Ben and now works for Cooper.
Al Michel: Mechanic who used to work for Eric in Eugene. Now the foster parent to Justin, Kevin and Danny. He's dating Ray Anne.
Ray Anne Dysart: Town real estate agent. She's dating Al.
Ashley James: Gina and Eric's daughter.

She's a physician's assistant, my bad but I still think (view spoiler)[the hero worship thing was fiercely in play. She admired him first as a doctor, thinking the same things that made him so good there extrapolated into a relationship...big NOT! She overlooked his arrogance as that's somewhat typical in the profession. Peyton didn't pay attention to his other qualities, or lack thereof. By the time it was clear, she was in so deep, having moved in with him and having nothing of her own anymore. The rest was classic denial. (hide spoiler)]

I agree with you. She did really admire him! I can see that because you can overlook a lot of things when you focus on their greatness.
Plus, since he had custody, one would assume he is a great dad!

Being a part of such a large family, they didn't get a lot of individual attention. She didn't have her own thing. Plus, Ted and his crew are "familiar".

I do understand it now. Peyton seems like she's a good person

That's my point. How could she think Scott wouldn't be insecure when she is still got an eye out for a better opportunity aka Portland? It's not like she has committed to staying in Thunderpoint so he can't know that she feels as strongly for him as he does for her.

I totally agree Ezi! Peyton was so used to being in a one way relationship that she wasn't able to accept Scott for what he was, she read him wrong quite often, he is what he is, and, in my opinion, she acted defensive quite a few times! And not just to Scott. But I just finished and I'm happy with the ending!

I don't believe him. The switch was too quick. I don't buy it. Plus since when did he care about his kids? He was mad that he had to go to counseling with his pregnant daughter. HE even tried to blame it on Peyton. I don't believe that he has had a lightbulb moment
