have you tried storygraph? the only downside is that it doesn't have personal messaging. fable does, and it's great, but only its app works

Yes, I completely agree with your assessment.

100% agree.

You're right. The power is ultimately in "the people's" hands, but this battle is going to be very ugly and it appears #Amanazi is going to dismantle every good thing about Goodreads that make it worth being here.
It's very disturbing to know how many other book community groups Amazon has their dirty little fingers in. They've basically positioned themselves as a monopoly in this arena.

"I suspect all previously external links will be okay? I have an external link image my profile and when they removed that ability, I had no problem editing and re-posting my profile with the link still there"

I think they did this when they made the first change, because everything that's done before the change is always grandfathered in, if it has already been on the platform.. It's when you try to do brand new posts with these same features that you find they no longer work for you...

Like earlier this year they took away the ability for you to add gifs, photos or named URL links in your profile's About Me sections.. Folks who already had these added, still do have them on their profiles. But those who now try to do the same thing, it tells you that this feature has been disabled.. So those who had this feature prior, were grandfathered in.

Sarah | 2 comments can someone help me find a song I used to listen to? I can't find the name and it's driving me crazy

this is whats its like:

It's a song I first heard as my teacher introduced it to me when I was like 9 or 10
It's sung by a black woman, with a young baby featured in the video, with a yellow background, and a positive feeling to it

I remember a bit of the melody but its annoying me that I can't get the name anywhere 😭
If anyone has the name or an idea of what the song could be, could you please tell me? Tysm

Yes, I completely agree with your assessment."

That's a good one. I equated it to ripping its spinal cord out leaving it effectively dead.

Is this gonna work out?

It's probably not gonna work, but we have to keep trying.. I'm ticked because it really should be well beyond the numbers it is right now.. Too many idiots here don't care about what is going on here..

And we know that GR doesn't care.. So there you go..

Sai :) (the climate catastrophe is real) | 16 comments i went down an internet wormhole and found a website that seems to have a community similar to how gr runs it...it's called librarything. com, the design is a little outdated but i feel like if i needed to i could go there

KarensKael | 8 comments Yes the design on LT is outdated but it fit my needs better than the other sites discussed here. And LT has dms. A couple of the other sites don't.

EDIT - Ok so I looked at 5 sites that were being talked about. Out of these, only 2 have DMs. LibraryThing and Fable.

Storygraph, Hardcover, and Litsy do not have DMs.

Do with this information as you will.
