Jason | 2 comments Hello.

I'm new here so apologies in advance for any missteps; I do no social media and it's been well over a decade since I last joined an online community.

I'm from the UK. I'm not exactly young - more autumnal.

I have started writing a book. I left school barely able to read and write, so it's something I've always wanted to do. And it has been strangely cathartic.

The manuscript could be described as being a literary near-future psychological fiction.

Back cover synopsis:

"A literary, atmospheric and philosophical work that sits at the intersection of speculative fiction and psychological allegory, The End: Penumbra is a near-future drama immersed in realism. It explores the boundaries of consciousness, the fragility of modern civilisation, and the elusive search for meaning in a world without.

Morally exhausted, Jason Peterson is a quiet observer in a Western world in steep decline. Sleep evades him, his nights a restless protraction – a sense of connection fading. When he does find solace, he’s plunged into vivid, genre-blending dreams; surreal horrors, futuristic visions, tormented memories and uncanny landscapes that offer both purpose and escape.

But as the dreams intensify, so too does his disconnection from reality. While the world teeters on the edge of Armageddon, Peterson’s inner collapse begins to mirror the chaos around him.

Deeply accomplished, thematically ambitious, and told in dark, lyrical prose reminiscent of J.G. Ballard, The End: Penumbra is a highly original haunting meditation on identity, apathy, and the blurred line between what is real and what is not. Timely, layered, and full of restrained dread, it builds to a conclusion that lingers long after the final page."

I would very much humbly welcome any offer of proofreading at any level from anyone experienced in such things. I'm new to all this, and I guess like most I fear overt criticism. Yet, I know we must journey far beyond our comfort zones in order to improve.

Thank you, and I look forward to knowing if you would like to receive my draft manuscript.

Yours

Jason
