I started this one. An actually 32% in. This is definitely outside my normal wheelhouse. Took me a bit to get used to the accent (UK) which sounds very proper and doesn't lend itself too fast of listening. Slow start for me so far, but I think things are starting to happen/plan in my current chapter (they are not numbered).
I am really looking forward to reading this. I think I read it in High School as my mom was a fan of this author and had a bunch books around the house. I loved Under Gemini, but don't remember this one.
Ok.. update... I'm 45% in. And ... ok, I'm just going to say it. I'm bored. I really have to pay attention since my mind wants to wander! The musings of the past are just hard for me to keep straight and follow along.
Is it just me? It's probably just me.
57%. I don't hate it. It's not exciting. Maybe because this just isn't my normal kind of book. But I am a little curious to see how a couple of things play out...
I am about 70-75% in and I feel the same. I am really bored in spots, but other spots are interesting. I like Penelope also, but her son is something!

If memory serves.. it's about the spot you are in now of when I got more interested in the story and the going ons.

I can see that it is getting more interesting. I have 1 1/2 hours left

Yeah. I definitely got more interested later on.

I didn't either. He was irritating at most!
Finished in the wee hours of last night/this morning, which I'm highly regretting this morning. Not sure if i read between the lines correctly but (view spoiler). Also I think the kids all got what they deserved in the end. I do think Penelope projected some of her feelings for Ambrose to Noel unfairly, but Noel and to a lesser degree, Nancy did seem to treat their mom like a piggy bank at the end. I definitely feel like Nancy was influenced by her Grandmother with wanted to be a seen a certain way in society by her choice of husband, house, and kids schools. Olivia was the most agreeable of the three by far even though she was somewhat emotionally stilted. I really liked Antonia and Damus together even though she was a wee bit young. I was a little disappointed in the ending. I kept waiting for a twist. (view spoiler)
