[closed] My requests are (auto-)removed

Dear Goodreads Librarians,


I am running into an issue, which I hope you can clarify for me.

Several weeks ago I requested the addition of a new book. Today, I was reminded of this, so I checked out the progress. The post seems to have disappeared. It does not show in the list of the posts I have made in the 'Goodreads Librarians Group' before (which are 3).

Perhaps I accidentally removed it, I thought, so I proceeded to rewrite my request and post it again. After posting, I was redirected to the page with my post. Great! An update with my post also showed on my Update Feed at my profile. However, when I navigated back to my post, the page did not exist anymore. And indeed, the post does not appear in the list with my posts here in 'Goodread Librarians Group'.

Has this happened before, to other users? I really want to know what causes this, because I do not get any notification about the removal, let alone an explanation...

I really would like to contribute more, but I am wary of typing more requests (for other books) if there is no guarantee that my post will not be magically deleted.

Which is my other question; is the deletion automatic, or manual? It seems automatic because it happened within a minute.

I sincerly hope you can help me further, because the situation leaves me quite frustrated and powerless. While I really want to contribute, and follow the rules of how to request books and other changes.

For issues of site functionality, you need to contact support.

I see several previous requests from you in June and March.

I've heard (in another group) that there is an intermittent bug with disappearing first posts.

& my experience on Goodreads is that intermittent & bugs that don't happen to everyone are the hardest to fix.

Librarians are volunteers & can't help with this - you need Support.

But first I would try logging out & back in & clearing your history/cache. Usually, even if it is a known bug, Support won't help you until you do.

& you never know - it might work.

Thank you for checking up. Those are indeed my older requests; my latest request would have been from October and then my re-attempt today.

And I had considered contacting support first, I probably should have clarified that, my apologies. I thought, perhaps this could have to do with some automatic filtering that also Librarians know off, so I decided to ask it here anyway.

Well, that could be something! It was however not my first post here, but both today and the previous time they were the 'first' posts of a while and for sure of the day.

This time I came prepared and copied my post, so I will try to post it again. If it stays up, I will let it be known here. Otherwise I will follow your advise and log in and out, and clear the browser's cache... and then contact support. Thank you for your advice.

It is a relief to know someone has heard of the problem before, Carol!

I have followed your advice, clearing the cache and logging in again. Yet my latest attempt has disappeared too, within a minute. So I will contact support. I have copied the URL that the post had in its brief existence. That perhaps can be of help to support.
