Holly (radiantasthesun) | 2 comments Hi everyone! I saw the PBS movie "The Shadow in the North" starring Billie Piper and discovered that it was based on the book by Phillip Pullman. I've been researching all the books in this Sally Lockhart Series, but haven't found as much information about them as I thought I would. I have a couple of questions:
1. Has anyone read this series? If so, did you like them?
2. As far as content goes, are these books very violent/sexual/disturbing? (I've heard some of his books can be dark, and I've never read anything by this author.)
I'm a big fan of mysteries and love reading the Sherlock Holmes stories. I wanted some feedback from people who have read them and are fans of the mystery genre. Thanks so much! :)

Skye | 2105 comments I haven't but now I am also curious and very interested. When was the movie on PBS?

Holly (radiantasthesun) | 2 comments They came on a while ago. The first one is "The Ruby in the Smoke" and the second one is "The Shadow in the North". I found the second one on YouTube, which is how I discovered them.

I've read them all with my daughter when she was younger -- she loved them and I was very much okay with content.
