Glorious Thomas | 1 comments Let’s talk about writer’s block, that moment when the words just won’t come.

Over time, I’ve learned a few steps that help:

Step away and clear your head (a short walk works wonders).
Revisit your outline or write something totally different.
Read a page from a favorite author to reignite the spark.

What about you? How do you overcome writer’s block when it hits?

(If anyone wants help reviewing their first 2k words to spot where the block might’ve started, I’m happy to help!)

Scott Lothian | 4 comments Thanks for the new subject. I tend to get writer’s block when I am trying to justify what comes next in the character’s journey. After a break, fresh air, and more coffee, I tend to roll many options over in my head (OCD-like), while trying to sleep, in the shower, while driving... :-) until something breaks through. I keep a main journal and carry a pocket journal when needed (I created one on Amazon just for this purpose), so I am not writing on napkins or my hand. Writer’s block is tough, but if you have a beginning and an ending, then let the book take you on a journey rather than having it all planned out. You can plan a vacation down to the finest detail, but you can never predict who will jump on the elevator with you, so go with it.

Christine Smith | 4 comments If the words aren't flowing I just do something completely different, watch TV or do some housework. Then the next day, if I still can't get going, I look at other chapters yet to be written , and start writing their outlines, or even the chapter. That seems to work for me .
