This is my first deep dive into string theory. I decided to start a little older, this book published in 1999 and then move with the development of science. This plan didn't help. After leaving the scientific knowledge I already have, general relativity and basic quantum mechanics, string theory left me grasping at coiled up dimensions that I cannot grasp. I love the idea of the universe being made up of super tiny oscillating strings. It gives me the idea of existence being a sort of symphony, but the concepts are way over my head. I will pick up another book on string theory eventually, but I need a simpler explanation.

I love it. I want to understand it, at least as well as any of this can be understood.

I listened to a professor recently who started his class with something to the effect of, "we are going to start quantum mechanics for the next 7 weeks. I have good news and bad news. Bad news is that quantum mechanics is not intuitive and hard to understand. The good news, no one really understand quantum mechanics. Right now, I'm the only one in this room who don't understand quantum mechanics. By the end of this course, hopefully you won't understand it either."

HAHAHAHA
