Anna Ward-Gow (pinkjumpers) | 13 comments Hello,

Please add the blurb of this book, I have transcribed it here (thank you!!):

Four people come together for a weekend. Upstairs in Sapper's comfortable winter retreat they drink sherry, chat, fantasize and play semi-intimate games. In the basement, a fugitive is hiding, tormented by physical and mental pain. As the novel proceeds, the amiable guests become unknowingly involved in the fate of the criminal, until their own lives are changed by violence and bloodshed.

On one level, 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 is a sinister fable about the limits of reason; it is also a witty and stylish comedy about mature people who have never before risked self-knowledge, sympathy or love. In this entertaining and provocative first novel, John Bruce places himself in the ranks of the best Canadian fiction writers.
