Right! Ancrum is such a great writer. That book had me feeling like I was losing my mind. LOL. I love it!

The Wicker King by K. Ancrum
Date Read: 11/21/2025
Rating: 4
Review:I've read three books by Ancrum this year and I am obsessed with her writing. It is so off the wall in the very best way. This book is kinda dreamy, what's real and what's not feelings and who is working for/with who. It's such a deep friendship that blossoms into more and even when I didnt know anything that was going on I absolutely loved the ride.

Review: The last couple of Nora Roberts books I read have been really hit or miss for me so it feels great to love one again. This was so good but man did it have me on edge. It starts off intense and ends intense but with an HEA thrown in. The best part for me though was the romance.

Darby and Zane have both been through so much in their lives and yet they didn’t let it define them. Both are incredibly likable and charming characters and their romance was so swoon worthy. I especially loved Darby. She’s so kind and funny and is a complete bad ass and I loved the way that Zane loved her. Their chemistry was great and I thought they were perfect for each other. The balance of the mystery and the romance was really good here but again it is intense and there is a lot of violence in this but it kept me hooked from beginning to end.

Review
It's been awhile since I've read this series but I'm glad I came back to it - I do like the author's writing. The male MC is a recent widower with 3 young children. I thought the author did great with how she handled him experiencing both new feelings, old feelings and guilt all at once. The female MC was a little 'poor little rich kid' but she also acknowledged it, so that made her likeable. I'm looking forward to continuing the series with more intent!

I enjoyed this read. I haven't read any other books in this series and it's #12. I didn't feel like I missed anything but now I am interested in the backstory of the characters we met in this book. So, I'll definitely be checking out more books in this series.

This one was typical Brenda Jackson and I love the familiarity in that. The story was unique though and kept me intrigued the entire time. And although I knew everything would work out in the end, I was rooting for these two who really got handed a raw deal.

The male narrator was actually very good on this one. I sometimes worry when it's a solo male narrator for a MF romance book. Some men aren't great with the female voices but I thought that he did a great job.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Date Read: 11/22/25
Review: So apparently fireworks aren’t just for the Fourth of July—they’re also for blowing up your life when your dad turns out to be an arms dealer. Andee, the “nice girl with sparklers,” gets shoved into CIA chaos and fake-dates Agent Adam Chan, who’s equal parts charming and infuriating. Cue explosions, kidnappings, and enough banter to light up Times Square.

Did I roll my eyes at the spy clichés? Absolutely. Did I still inhale the book because the chemistry was hotter than her fireworks stash? Also yes. It’s rom-com energy dressed in tactical gear, and I’m not mad about it.
