Book & Author Page Issues > I see your good intentions, but automatically showing all my "other" books (same books, dead versions) from Amazon without asking me seems like a truly bad idea.

Plug The (plug-the-storyteller) | 3 comments So here I am with this mess. I uploaded a four-book serial (plus a compendium of all four in e-book format) to Amazon. Then, before it had a sale (because it probaby never would have), I changed the title. Then, for other reasons having to do with Amazon rigamarole, I put that title into drafts and created a revised series title.

Now, yikes! I see that you showed me as the author of 15 books -- basically the same four books three times plus the compendia (which Amazon ridiculously calls a "boxed set" for an ebook with no box) of all three.

When I tried to fix this using your tools, I managed to hide the first seies title, but visitors see the second (now draft) of the new title and the link takes them to a page saying sorry, you can't buy it. Your system doesn't seem to offer a way to hide that version of the series, which is now in draft.

I can see that your auto-upload is a good option for big-time authors with a lot of books. It is a truly terrible idea for writers with mistakes and failures and some laughable early work.

In fact, I am truly relieved that I had the sense to create a new Amazon account for these books after publishing the worse-selling and worst-reviewed "how-to" book for screenwriters in the entire history of western civilization (which, if I had not been so dumb about the pessitimstic way I wrote it and presented the data, would have been a pretty good short book). So at least readers of this series won't see "Be That One In A Hundred."

Scott | 9706 comments You need to understand that Goodreads is here for readers, and auto-importing books is the best way to make sure everyone's book is here (theoretically). It would obviously be too massive a task to be done manually. Making it optional would cause problems as many authors would want to cherry pick what books appear.
