What do you think happened to Tom in Sylvester?

I've just finished Sylvester again and was struck by what a main character Tom is and what a large part he plays in the story. What do you think happened to him after his two friends finally got married? The ending seems to imply he is the darling of the two old ladies.

I'd like to think he grew up a little (although already mature for his age) and then married Phoebe's sister.

Tom is such a solid, good-natured, no-nonsense character! Between his wise mother, Sylvester’s mother and Phoebe’s grandmother who all adore him, he’s bound to find just the right girl. Tom laughed about how he’d be just like his father someday, so maybe he’d marry a smart, pretty, practical lady like his mother. That would fit your idea about Phoebe’s sister. Which GH books have main characters similar to Tom? That might give us a hint of the kind of girl she’d have paired him with.

I like to think of him marrying Phoebe's sister since he is already family, basically, that would just make it official.

The Title line really disturbed me: is the cat in Tom and Jerry not called Sylvester, or am I mixing comic strips?

About Tom´s future: I would not be surprised if he is more into men. Though this was certainly not an easy option for an only son from a family, that probably wants an heir.
