I think a healthy balance is key! Not 8 up or down, but 5/3 or 4/4 or even 6/2 helps with getting more in the top.

I'm going to nominate it again.

Ciara (ciaraxyerra) | 324 comments I haven't been participating in the wild discussion this year bc it moves too fast & just gets overwhelming. & I don't want to stir up my emotions getting passionate about a prompt (good or bad) when I know argument is unlikely to change many ppl's minds & I have the same number of votes as anyone else. I've really been trying to protect my peace this year, with everything in my life.

In any case, I'm kind of glad only one prompt was voted in this week. There were some strong contenders, but I prefer one or two prompts to the weeks when we get like four.

People will always be negative. I hate a few of the prompts we have for next year, but I try to remember people put a lot of thought into their nominations so try not to criticize them publicly.

I have also found over the years that the prompts I am least interested in can turn out to be the most interesting because they push me where I wouldn't have gone myself. So I try to keep that in mind when I see there's a result I happily and whole-heartedly downvoted.

LOL- that's a lot of trying in that comment :)

Read it!!!!!!! It is so good. It has some twists that I loved. It's a little bit of a slow burn - which I loved. Seriously - read it! :)

Bec and Irene - sending you both lots good wishes, healing vibes, crossed fingers - all of it.

Bec | 1341 comments Thanks everyone. I’m hoping I’m nearly done for now! But I have a non-curable cancer so it won’t be the end of it. I find out what’s next mid-October.

I didn't like Passing as much as I wanted to, but there are some very good newer ones on the topic. Did You Hear About Kitty Karr? and The Vanishing Half
are very good.

I just finished It Rhymes With Takei which would count since he spent much of his life passing as straight.
