Rutgers University Habitat for Humanity campus chapter holds a Build-A-Thon each year. In the weeks leading up to the event, teams will race to raise as much money as possible. Then on October 22nd, all of the teams come together to build the craziest, most innovative shacks they can!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akR8b... - a 2:01 YouTube video

Duration: October 1 - 31, 2025
Books must be 140+ pages.
Audio books must be 3+ hours long.

You must use (read) at least 3 tools to build your shack.
Measuring Tape - read a book where the MC travels
Framing Square - read a book with a pretty cover (that you might want to frame)
Carpentry Pencil - read a book where the MC attends school
Hammer - read a book where you might want to 'pound' the MC
Pliers - read a book with twins in the story
Level - read a book that is set around sea level
Drill - read a book where the MC is or was in the military
Saw - read a book with all the letters of SAW in the title
Router - read a book where the MC uses a map
Jigsaw - read a book where the MC is 45 or older *
Nail Gun - read a book with a gun in the story
Block Plane - read any 140+ page book *
Plumb Bob - read a book with a Bob, Bobby or Robert in the story
Chisel - read a book where the MC is an artist
Clamps - read a book where the MC has a best friend
Calculator - read a book where the MC is considered smart
Belt Sander - read a book with an abrasive character in it *
Ladders - read a book where the MC works in an office
Extension Cord - read a book that is part of a series, but not #1
Notebook - read a paperback or a hardback
Screwdrivers - read a book where the MC drinks alcohol
Wrenches - read a book about a tough subject

* A jigsaw allows cutting angles of typically up to 45 degrees.
* A block plane is considered one of the easiest of all hand planes to use.
* A block sander uses a moving abrasive belt to smooth surfaces.
