I like the bold parts that in between the paragraphs in the novel. It helps me visualize the characters and helps understand whats going on.

I like how he puts a lot of his humor in them or thoughts to ponder. Kind of breaks up the deeper, "tougher" parts.
It also makes it feel more like a dialogue between you the reader and the narrator. At first, I found that distracting, but I'm rather enjoying it now.
Thank goodness for the humor. And I really liked the bold part (and other unusual formatting) from the start, and the whole style of the book. I felt as though I were right there with the characters and the place; the images and unusual style contributed to everything feeling very vivid for me.
It kind of feels like you are just sitting in a chair across from death and he is telling you a story while both the you and him are sipping tea..lol.
Lisa, I completely, 100% agree with you. All of this makes it so unique- i have never read a book like this. and i absolutely love it.
I feel that the bold part lets us know things that we otherwise would not know. Death obviously feels that they have a place in the book, or they wouldn't be there.
I am not very far and haven't decided yet if I like the bold parts. Sometimes to me they are distracting, but then again I like the ones that give a definition of something. so i am just getting used to them.
