I just finished reading 'Onyx Storm', and i can confidently say I am incredibly disappointed. After finishing 'Iron Flame' on a cliff hanger, I was so thrilled to read the third book and got my hands on it as soon as possible. But as I was reading, when I got to the halfway mark, I was bored out of my mind. The plot became so dull and dead, like Yarros completely forgot the importance of a good story and not just the freaky moments between Xaden and Violet. Another note: is that all their relationship has become? It felt so empty to me, and in no chapter of the book did i get that giddy, kicking-my-feet romantic feeling when they were together. Let me know your thoughts because I could keep ranting about this book for hours!

I will be reading the next book 😅 but I (without reason) have high expectations for Xaden to get it together or for something to happen besides him channeling when he knows he shouldn’t

literally I’m so glad you agree!

LePossume | 16 comments Fourth Wing soared high!
A slow start, but once the world’s built, it’s unputdownable 👀. A diverse cast, a delicious slow-burn enemies-to-lovers 🔥🗡️❤️, and the last 200 pages? Pure chaos in the best and worst way 🐉. I devoured every moment.

Iron Flame stumbled.
A simmering war plot and punchy ending were its only redeeming features. Otherwise, 700 pages of sluggish pacing, teen-drama “romance,” and endless miscommunication left me drained 😮‍💨. Violet’s stubbornness grated, old flaws resurfaced, and only the last 50 pages hit. A trudge, not a triumph — now I’m questioning if I’ve the patience for Onyx Storm!

What do you think? Stick it out or cut my losses? ✂️

Personally, I despised Onyx Storm and wouldn’t read it ever again😭 but if you want to see how the rest of the story plays out, it would be wise to read it.

LePossume | 16 comments Hmmm, curiosity might still get the better of me… but only once Onyx Storm hits paperback and works its way into a supermarket BOGOF bin 🤭

Michele | 2 comments I was also disappointed with Onyx Storm. The end made me confused and I’m not sure how the series will follow after that… it can go really bad, that will make me not want to finish anything or it can have a very good story development that will keep me on my toes. The first option might the most probable one 😒 I was also super annoyed with Violet and not getting over her “anger” towards Xaden. I thought there was minimal character development and the series could have ended on book 3.

Lotta Z | 10 comments Yeah, I'm of the exact same opinion. I enjoyed being with my fav characters again! But I felt conflicted about how the plot played out. It seemed like they were flying here and then flying there. I didn't like the ambiguous end at all. I am going to re-read this series before the next book comes out which I believe Yarros should be writing soon! I'm definitely going to keep reading the series but if the next book is like Onyx Storm then I think I am done unfortunately!

ALSO, thank you for the add Isla! Although I used Goodreads for a number of years I never really got involved with group stuff so this should be fun!

Anyone up for maybe doing a buddy read?? I'm open to suggestions!

🤍🤍🤍
