What is with all the product placement!

Were the other books like this too? I don't recall them being so, but sheesh, does a multi million bestselling author need to insert so much blatant product placement in there (see for example, Speedos, Vanquisher goggles, Patagonia jumper...). I guess we don't know if he's actually being paid or not, but honestly why have it otherwise; they add absolutely nothing to the story.

There always has been right? It has never been forcefully placed even in this book. For ex: Da Vinci had that citroen car, angels had rolex.
Inferno had patagonia already. Origin i remember had hotel references, not so much in detail like Secret of Secrets where the 5/7 star suite room has so much book time

I must have missed those - I guess I was at the age where all I could afford was Kmart :)

I personally enjoyed the reference to Langdon's "Dale" sweater because I knew that was Dale of Norway! Beautiful sweaters.
