ISBN has "deleted status"

This book's current entry ISBN is 9781771645836 which is the ebook edition. I tried to create a new entry with the hardback ISBN of 9781771645829 to combine editions. However, when I tried to entry the HB edition an error stated that the edition already existed with a "deleted status".

I've read and re-read the manual advice on ISBNs to no avail. Help, please.

I made it public. You have to try to create the book again with the ISBN, and when it gives you the warning click on the link it shows. Then change the status.
