PUSH THROUGH AND FINISH IT!! YOU GOT THIS!! I personally think that the second and third books were better.

I personally loved it from page one, but yes, it will get better, and the other two have more romance😏🍿🥤
Pacing & Setup: The first half is a lot of world-building, bullying, and political setup. Many people don’t love it until the second half, where the tension, twists, and scheming kick in. If you’re almost halfway, you’re about to hit the turning point.
Series Progression: Most readers say The Wicked King (book 2) is the best of the trilogy — sharper plotting, darker intrigue, and more romance/power plays. The Queen of Nothing is the finale; reactions are mixed, but fans usually find it satisfying.
To DNF or not:
If you’re not vibing with the bullying/slow politics, but do like scheming, enemies-to-something-more, and high-stakes twists, it’s worth pushing through — book 2 is faster and juicier.
If the writing style itself or the world just doesn’t click for you, you might not enjoy the sequels either, and a DNF is totally fair.
