This is a non-fiction book that tells the history of the leper colony on the Hawaiian Island of Molokai. It begins at the time it was created to when the book was published in 2006.
It was an interesting book, but it was difficult to read about how the patients/persons that were sent there were treated. They had to leave everything and everyone behind; even the children. They couldn't have visitors and were not given the food, help, and treatment they were promised. They were basically prisoners.
The book contains extensive notes/bibliography.
