I'm going to join this BR. The Murderbot series is a reread for me, but I so enjoyed going back to the first one, that I'm very much looking foward to meeting ART "again for the first time" in book 2.

I started today and I love ART! The whole beginning with them both watching and rewatching the shows was just great.

Hahahaha... the relationship between ART and Murderbot is so amazing! This is one of the greatest buddy relationships in literature, IMHO. "Yes, the giant transport bot is going to help the construct SecUnit pretend to be human. This will go well." Brilliant!

"Yes, the giant transport bot is going to help the construct SecUnit pretend to be human. This will go well." Brilliant!I enjoyed this one just a little less than the first one, probably just because it wasn't the first time I'd met Murderbot having read book 1. But I'm thinking like 3.75 stars instead of 4.
One of my favorite quotes: "you may have noticed that for a terrifying murderbot I fuck up a lot." I hear that, Murderbot!
BTW, will this count as a Tier 1 or Tier 3 (since Lisa is part of it) BR for the Toys/Objects challenge? Thanks!

I am reading this for the Toy Box challenge as well. I just finished this, and used the dramatized audio version. The audiobook is amazing. I think if I were just reading these books, I would not be continuing. The end of the first book made no sense to me, because there wasn't any explanation about next steps, and (view spoiler) I am probably not in this series for the long haul, but I am curious about what happens next.

I’m about half through and loving it! I’m so glad Murderbot has both a machine and human friends! And, I’m also reading this for toys so that gives us 4 readers.

I just finished the book.. and I ended up liking it
I just finished the book.. and I ended up liking it Like C, in book 1, I was a bit confused on why he would leaving.. but book 2 solved that..
(view spoiler).
I kinda like Murderbot more and more, the more I read his series.. and ART looks like it'll be a good addition as well
Anyway, I will be checking out the next book, maybe not in the near future, unless a challenge requires it..
Janine, I'm so sorry you don't enjoy these books as much as I do. I find Murderbot so delightful. It's voice is just so fun and sweet despite his hatred of everyone and everything.

It's nice to take such a small bite of the story and know there's more to come, and that a huge world is being slowly built.

I forgot to come back lol. ONe thing from above is Beth, I find it funny you call ART he. I think because I listen to the audio I just find ART to be more feminine so interesting.

Also, to the endings, I feel like this is written almost more like a serial. Has anyone watched the tv show? i feel like it probably translates pretty well.
Josh and I watched the show--the ending was pretty different from the book, iirc, but it definitely translated well. We really liked it and hope for more seasons.

Yes, definitely a friend, and I also thought that will both Murderbot and ART are more genderneutral than not, I felt like ART was more female and Murderbot was more male (but that could also be Skarsgaard).
Janeylou wrote: "I imagine ART as male, but think thats because of the ' Asshole' which i associate with males 😂😂😂"

I really love this book. Especially the interaction between Murderbot and ART when they're watching the video feeds. And ART helping Murderbot change his appearance so he looks more human.

Finally finished , i struggled agian with all the unusual.words/ places/names in audio. If id been reading i would have changed then in my mind but not possible.in audio . Also im not a mad sci fi fan .

I preferred the first half of the book where their friendship developed rather than the mystery which was a bit slow .
No surprise but probably wont continue the series
