Theme 472 - I write the songs - pick two songs by THE SAME songwriter (can be in collaboration with others) and can be sung by the songwriter or another artist. The catch: the songwriter must be someone who YOU think is under-rated as a songwriter. If you think Lennon/McCartney or Dylan are under-rated I won't believe you, but I might allow Jagger/Richards. - Val

I didn't have time to research 3rd songs on albums for the last rounds, so apologies for the nominator, but this theme...oh gee where does one end??!! There's thousands of them out there with drum intros! I have compiled a lists of over 200 songs that fits this theme, and that just the ones i could remember! Many are big hits of their day, it's going to be tough to whittle them down to just two!

I did consider Dylan's 'Like A Rolling Stone' which has one hit on the snare drum before the band kicks in, but I thought it might be taking the proverbial 😉 (and it's a bit obvious too)

Right, i couldn't decide which 2 songs have the best opening drum intros in them, out of a shortlist of 30 tracks. Thus, I've chosen to have some fun instead.

Kicking off with a classic song that spawned the greatest road movie of the 1970's ever made in my humble opinion. I love road movies, i have all the greats of that era, Vanishing Point, Duel, the first two Smokey & the Bandit movies (3rd one was crap!), Cannonball Run, Fear is the Key, The Driver, Mad Max (okay, they were 1980s, still a classic though)..and many many more. But the best, was in the form of the legend that was a trucker in his big bad black Mack with a can on the back, a psychotic trucker hatin' sheriff called Dirty Lyle, & a girl in a Jag haulin' ass. Replete with lame acting, a plot thinner than a human hair & more cheesy CB radio chat than a french dairy factory, It is truckin' carnage bliss, I love it!

The results are in an first place goes to Grimmy and the Rolling Stones (18 votes) - the only one nominated that was on my shortlist of ten. A tie for second between Tim (Misty In Roots) and Jim (Elvis Costello & The Attractions), both on 15 votes. Third place goes to Sussex and The Clash on 14 votes.
