The idea for this series came to me over 2 years ago, and I wouldn't end up writing the books until late 2024. My thought was: what if dragon riders were chosen in the womb by unhatched dragons? What would that look like? How would that actually work?

The story that formed around that initial idea became something completely different than what I imagined at first, but I absolutely love how it shaped. It's an Asian-esque setting, and there are several plot twists that I planned well before I ever wrote a single word.

The first book is titled Chosen, which is the term for someone who is destined to be a dragon rider. After the Ceremony of Oaths, they become known as Sworn. Dragon riders are the empire's best defense against creatures called Drakka, draconic/demonic type beings who are bent on destruction. They aren't intelligent creatures, at least as far as people are aware.

Chosen grow up hearing the voice of their dragon in their head, but they don't get to meet their dragons until the Ceremony, when they begin training to be warriors. The series follows Kai Lin, who - despite being Chosen - has never heard the voice of her dragon...
