Will using oceanofpdf give your device viruses?

I mean nothings happened to me yet! 😬 and I’ve used it multiple times so I THINK it’s fine but it’s always a last resort for me bc I feel bad since it’s technically illegal 😅

yeahhhh all the pdfs are pirated from the authors illegally…. which is not good 😀

Well, most countries don't have bookstores and few that does won't have the kind of books they love or see in book Tok and don't even get me started on how expensive shipping it down to their countries will get, I understand OceanofPdf is illegal but it doesn't stop the authors from making their money, right??

I recently downloaded three books from there, and they were virus-free.

I would not recommend rating books that you steal. you may be reading an outdated version.

Are you sure it's a pirate site? Someone recommended it to me here a couple of months ago, and it seemed perfectly decent.
Of course, though, I wouldn't want to be involved in anything illegal.

i have been using it for 3 years now and been changing phones never a virus or a problem. Hope that helps

Yes you are downloading books for free and not paying the authors who worked hard on writing it. It's stealing.

Does this apply to very old books whose authors have been dead for a long time?

i use it all the time. and if im not using that site, i use the vk epub files that people upload. not everyone has access to books, especially not the english versions

Its the best!! If I didnt have oceanofpdf I would have to sell my kindle because I cant afford it and its just the best site for free books

am i stealing from libraries too? OceanofPDF is specifically made for people to read their favorite books for free, it’s not piracy. I’m almost 100% sure that OceanofPDF buys the books themselves, (just like a library) and offers them to the public. I believe that more people should know about this site.. ITS NOT ILLEGAL GUYS 😭😭.
And this doesn’t really matter to what i’m saying but OceanofPDF offers that you can donate some money to their cause!

i get books can be expensive and sm times it’s hard to get access, i’ve used it a few times and it’s okay
i suggest getting a library card to borrow books for free
there’s apps where u can link ur library card and read ebooks like libby

I’m an author. I also have a legal background.

That website is a violation of copyright law. It steals from authors. Those are two facts.

And, I’m sorry, but using the argument “not everyone has access to books” is ridiculous, because “not everyone has access” to a lot of things. It doesn’t mean you go steal whatever it is… Libraries order the books from publishers etc. so authors do in fact benefit from that at least minimally.

Also, I grew up in a developing country so don’t try coming at me, with the almost inevitable “you’re speaking from privilege”.

That said, we all have free will. If you want to keep using the website, go for it. Just be aware of what it means.

Hello, guys, so I haven’t used oceanofpdf yet because I usually use Libby to download books.
And although it did seem like a viable option at first, after reading the comments about it being illegal and harming authors & publishers more than you may realize (I did some research btw) I’ve decided that I will not be using that site at any point in the future.
So thank you all for answering my question, but I no longer need answers on this subject.
