Billy Betts | 1 comments Hi everyone, back in 2019-2021 I wrote five books.

I published and then unpublished on Amazon as I didn't know how to market or anything as didn't have social media. I re-logged in again recently to my author account and saw I had 11 reviews for Grassland on Amazon and it was 4 stars! I was glad and also had some reviews on Goodreads. Grassland is a story about a budding journalist who heads to outback Australia (think mining down, red dirt) and investigates a possible front page story which is that about a rumoured commune or cult operating there. The cult is led by two former boys she had gone to school with. Check out the sample on Amazon if you get a chance and I enrolled if for a free book promotion but I think the USA listing is not up to date yet so hopefully works in the Australian one.

Here is my author bio if you are interested as I am back and will be focussing again on writing.

Billy Betts is a remarkably versatile author of dark, suspenseful fiction. In the span of less than two years, he released three novels—Falter, Burg, and Grassland—each a unique entry in psychological tension. At the same time, he has cultivated a following for his daring and experimental work, including the transgressive novella I Paid to Stab a Lion and the eclectic short story collection, Mixtape Volume 1. Whether crafting a commercial thriller or a piece of literary art, Betts is a writer who consistently delivers stories that are as thought-provoking as they are unforgettable.

A Vipassana meditator, Betts recommends the notoriously challenging 10-day course to anyone with the time to undertake it. His writing is often influenced by his observations while hiking and traveling, having visited over 20 countries. He cites "The Karma of the Wildest Man in the West" (originally published in Mixtape Volume 1 as "A Piece of Poo In A Pond") as a personal favorite for its unforgettable final scene.

His current public works include:

1. Falter, debut novel, September 2019
2. Burg, second novel, March 2020
3. Grassland, third novel, March 2020
4. Mixtape Volume 1: A Collection Of Short Stories, debut short story collection, August 2020
5. I Paid To Stab A Lion, debut novella, January 2021
6. The Karma of the Wildest Man in the West (originally known as A Piece of Poo In A Pond)*, August 2025
7. The Moon*, August 2025
*Individual short story releases which were part of Mixtape Volume 1
