Karin | 9202 comments Oh, how I hated this book but I finished it hoping it would improve because I've liked two other books by him.

This book is about a line of women who all look alike because the female genes a. dominate and b. are passed down with no exchange from mother to daughter (based on the Amazon molly fish, found in Texas). It primarily focuses on the space race from rocketry in late WW II up some years and on Mia, who is 99 in the line that's spanned c. 3000 years, I kid you not. I couldn't connect with these women at all, which wasn't good, either.

It's dark and violent--the women are also hunted by an even more violent line of men who--wait for it--also are all identical to each other. There is murder, mystery and a great deal of darkness throughout this book. The writing is not as good as it was in the first two Sleeping Giants books.

This will be my last book by Neuvel, because it's the second in a row I didn't like, and this one the least of all.
