Mattie | 5 comments I am fairly new to reading for a hobby— this is so much fun!
I’m looking for some book recommendations from real humans instead of robot, Chat GPT.
My reading interest/something I’m looking for: deep character development with emotional attachment (I want to laugh, to cry, to be physically moved), psychological thriller— like I’m in the midst of a criminal minds episode, serial killers, abduction, the whole shebang. I’m not scared of spice… I want to *feel* the love, if you’re picking up what I’m putting down. I wouldn’t mind some “realistic” mythology (obsessed with Greek mythology), but I don’t love the idea of fantasy, paranormal, or monsters.
I have read the following:
A Talent For Murder- good plot line, I enjoyed it
Verity- seemed cliche, but had enough shock appeal I kept the pages turning
Mindfuck- I liked it A LOT, the puzzle piece storyline was a vibe
Still Beating- I would 1000% wish I could read it again for the first time.

Cindy | 3 comments i haven’t read the books that you mentioned (yet), but maybe you would like the edge of darkness trilogy (and the connected book psychotic obsession) by Leigh Rivers

Karen Denise Foster | 145 comments If you loved Still Beating, then I would 100% recommend Irreversible by that author. Really good!

Also, for that Criminal Mind type Mindf*ck reading, I just finished the IKK series - Starts with I Kill Killer by S.T. Ashman. Not a lot of spice, but a lot of twists, characters you will love, and of course serial killers.

If you really like crazy, then I would recommend The Chronicles of Anna Monroe and Boston Marks by A.A. Dark – Pitch Black, serial killers, serial killers, serial killers, kidnapping, abuse, graphic horror erotica, absolutely fantastic, and serial killers. Starts with Boston Mark's story in Never Far, then you get Anna's story, then two books with them together. This has a lot of triggers, so beware.

Consequences series by Aleatha Romig is dark, kidnapping, abuse, graphic, also really good. This one took a minute for me to get into, but once I did, I loved the main characters.

Twist Me, Capture Me, Tormentor Series – all three series by Anna Zaires – are Mafia/cartel, kidnapping, graphic, and really good. My favorite is the Tormentor series though. Twist Me series was my first dark romance read, so these will always be some of my favorites.

There Are No Saints/There Are No Devils by Sophie Lark is a dark story about 2 serial killers that fall in love with the same woman, really good.

Got a lot more if you want more recs.

Valerie Willis (willis_author) | 6 comments An on-going Dark Fantasy Mythology Paranormal Romance.

Heat 3-4 in later books.

Lots of Greek Mythology and Titans mentioned mixed with a lot of other mythology, medieval bestiaries, and history.

Cedric is an abomination trying to gain power to take out his creator when he finds himself married to the very thing he despises the most: a witch. They will have to learn to survive each other, let alone the dangers lurking all around them.
