Sorry it's late.

This month we are reading The Danger Tree which is the first book in The Levant Trilogy: Danger Tree, Battle Lost and Won and Sum of Things. I have never read these books, so I'm looking forward to these. I am going away for a few days and plan to start when I get back.

Lisa Brantly | 84 comments I hope I'm not the only one reading these. they really are very good, despite unlikeable characters.

One thing I noticed, everytime we find out something unpleasant about a character - someone (Guy, narrator, Harriet) send to give an alternate view. it's not enough to counter, but it provides a built in balance.

These are very real characters. it is interesting to balance them against Thrush Green in reading.

waiting for Sept 1 to start "Battle"!

No your not. I have had a hectic month, and went off on holiday (camping); as I'm reading these on Internet Archive, I didn't have access to it. I have started now, (better late than never). I agree about the characterisation, just fabulous. I think the Thrush Green characters are realistic as well; just in a very different setting.

I have just finished the first, (very long) chapter. That couple with their son was a shock; I couldn't quite compute what I was reading.

Lisa Brantly | 84 comments I know! I had to read it twice... "wait,, what?"

I finished this one this morning.

I love the settings with Harriet, but find myself less interested in the actual battlefield scenes with Simon Boulderstone. Guy still drives me mad, but Harriet sees his faults and chooses to put up with them.
