Paula Cappa | 68 comments On my groups threads, I can no longer post a new thread. I can only post a comment to a thread. I've contacted Tech help about this at least 3 times and it's been over 3 months and they've not fixed it. The "dateUp arrow newest »" is disabled and does not bring up the newest thread, nor allows me to post a new thread.

Can you help? This is what it looks like. The last line is what is preventing me from posting:

Tech help is no help at all. They keep telling me they are fixing it but it's been 3 months and nothing. PLEASE, can you do something and contact Tech to fix this? This is happening on all my groups threads. Please advise. Thank you. Paula Cappa

Scott | 8535 comments Why would you think this has anything to do with librarians? Contact support, or ask in Help.

Sandra | 31378 comments A similar comment was posted on the Moderator's Support Group.

It might prove useful.

Sandra | 31378 comments Oh sorry, I didn't realise.

They were talking about the newest link being inactive. After several posts it was suggested it was because it was a one page, so far, thread.

So re-reading the first post here, it doesn't seem relevant, as they are having this problem on a multi-page thread.

Another suggestion provided by a mbr:
"Suggest your group members click the "UNREAD" link on the group's main page ... at the right next to the heading DISCUSSION BOARD.

That will give you a new window where all the threads with comments you have not previously read will show up. If you don't want to read all of them, you can go to the bottom of that list and click the "Mark All As Read" link and it will clear the list for you. (BE CAREFUL if there are multiple pages ... clicking "mark all as read" will wipe out the entire list, NOT just the page you are on.)"

Tawnya | 4024 comments Sandra, I do not see what you are referring to. Perhaps because I only use a desktop? I had hoped there was a button to mark all as "read".

Last year I convinced my daughter to join our group. Unlike me, she uses her phone for these things. She wound up getting 10,000! notices. I figured out she was getting them for most of the database. Needless to say she quickly deactivated that. I don't know what she did different from what I did when I signed up.

Tawnya | 4024 comments Paula, anything that requires the developers will take a long time (think a year, not months). There are bugs that have never been resolved. And then there are new ones that they say are being "worked" on. Since the last site-wide update we have been having issues doing simple combining / separating. I figure that will hopefully be resolved in January 2026.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2277 comments It's a good idea to join the Moderators Group. It isn't an official Goodreads Group but is (or it used to be) approved of by Goodreads.

Just be aware that members aren't staff & can only share things that have worked for them.

You have to be approved & I don't know how often the moderators get to that.

Hi Scott, I did this at least 5 times. Tech just keeps telling me they are working on it. It's been 3 months and nothing is fixed. I'm desperate to get someone at Goodreads to help me.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2277 comments Sorry Paula we are volunteers & don't even have access to that part of the site. Other than the spam killers there is next to no staff presence in this group now.

Thanks, Tawnya. This is not a developer's issue since it's apparently not affecting other members or other threads is what I am told. Clicking the UNread doens't do anything. This is what it looks like on my thread in a group folder. On the dateUP arrow, there is a weird icon that prevents clicking:

[Comments Showing 1-50 of 275 post a comment »

dateUp arrow newest »]

No matter what thread I use on any group folder, I am unable to click into a new window to write a new thread. I can only access the comments. So, I guess it's a bug, but only on my threads and in every one of my groups. Very weird. I can't tell you the time I've spent on this. It's ridiculous that no one at Goodreads can resolve it in three months and all they keep telling me is they are working on it. If I try to create a new thread, same thing happens.

Thanks, but I'm not a moderator.

I tried clicking Unread, but it corrected nothing.

Sandra, I cannot find Mark As All Read. Where is it?

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2277 comments "This is not a developer's issue since it's apparently not affecting other members or other threads is what I am told.'

It is a developers' issue unless things have changed. They are divided into two groups - the ones that create new stuff & the ones that fix bugs. If your bug affects very few people they aren't going to bother. I do sympathise I had a bug for years where I couldn't see the reviews of people I follow. I always assumed it was fixed accidentally when they were working on something else.

& there is a bug where most librarians can't merge quotes. Been broken for around 12 years apparently.

I'm leaving this thread now. :)

message 16: by Tawnya (new)

Tawnya | 4024 comments Paula, I don't believe there is one. I was asking Sandra about it because it would help in certain instances.
