Hayley Cielo (haycieloeditor) | 1 comments Hello Authors!

First off—congratulations. Whether you’re wrestling with a first draft or polishing your final manuscript, I know how much heart (and caffeine) goes into every page. I’m Hayley Cielo, a writer, editor, and mother with 16 years in publishing—both in-house and freelance—working across fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. My specialty? Helping words shine, whether through structural edits, line-by-line refinement, or that final proofread before submission.

I’ve been lucky to collaborate with publishers like Faber & Faber, Bloomsbury, Granta, and Pan Macmillan, as well as mentorship programs like Arvon Foundation and Faber Academy. But what excites me most is working directly with authors—tightening narratives, sharpening dialogue, and untangling those stubborn plot knots. As a writer myself (and co-founder of Offord Road Books), I know how vulnerable it feels to share your work—and how transformative thoughtful feedback can be.

Here’s how I can support you:
- Developmental Editing: Big-picture feedback on structure, pacing, and voice.
- Line Editing: Fine-tuning prose for clarity and rhythm.
- Proofreading & Copy-Editing: Meticulous checks for grammar, consistency, and flow.
- Manuscript Assessments: A detailed report on strengths and areas to refine.

I’m passionate about literary fiction, poetry, and narrative non-fiction, but I love diving into any genre where language takes center stage. My approach? Honest, constructive, and always respectful of your vision.

Email me at cielodeveditor@gmail.com. Let’s make your manuscript as powerful as it deserves to be.

P.S. If you’re curious about my work with CHEERIO Publishing, Poetry London, or La Errante, just ask—I’d love to nerd out about books with you.

Brie Rose | 1 comments This was my first time hiring an editor, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Hayley was patient, kind, and incredibly sharp. Her line edits were thorough without being overwhelming, and she helped me see my writing in a new light. My book is so much stronger because of her.

Adam | 2 comments The details in this beta read provided by Hayley were amazing! I am so appreciative of her and the time and effort that went into her feedback. I had several beta readers and this was the best one so far. She reviewed my story from the perspective of a true reader and not someone looking at it technically - which is what I needed and wanted. She covered characters, plot, setting, and so much more. I honestly was feeling a little discouraged in my writing journey, and this has re-energized me. Not because it's free of critiques (it has critiques!) but because I feel like I received really good direction that I can actually use. I'm excited to implement the changes and keep moving forward.

Watson | 1 comments The experience of working with Hayley was both enlightening and inspiring. Her expertise in structure, pacing, and tone brought out the best in my story. She’s not just an editor—she’s a true partner in the creative process. I’m already lining up my next project with her.

Nathan | 1 comments Hayley exceeded every expectation. Her turnaround time was fast, her notes were clear and actionable, and her edits actually elevated my story instead of flattening it. I’m so grateful I found her—I finally feel confident publishing my book.
