Have looked at two books titled "The Last Tsar." I felt so impatient with the first one, written by an academic, that I went on the internet and bought a copy of Radzinskii's book, published decades ago. I enjoyed Radzinskii before and am pleased to enjoy him again.

More suspense coming for Claudius... Radzinski's The Last Tsar has held up well. I'm only taking a chapter a day.

Thanks. Could well be inspired to try that. I re-read The Eagle of the Ninth not so long ago, enthralling when I was 10-11, and found it surprisingly mature on loyalty and male friendship, and just as exciting. Still waiting for the library to come through with the Mary Grand.
