Hello Team Sweater Weather Only!!! I am excited to be your team captain for this challenge and I can't wait to see the wonderful competition we will show! If you are willing to do buddy reads to gain more points please mention that so we know who is ready and feel free to put a list of books and we can choose that way!

This reading challenge will be a total of 6 weeks. We will start the challenge on August 5th, 2025 and it will end on September 16th, 2025. However, we will announce the winners on September 17th, 2025 and PLEASE HAVE ALL BOOKS LOGGED BY MIDNIGHT ON THE 16TH.

⚠️ANY BOOK that is logged for points in this challenge will need to be over 100+ pages in order to log for points. Comic books are NOT ALLOWED. (audio, paperback, hardback, kindle are ALL ACCEPTED!)

⚠️If you DNF (Did Not Finish) a book, you are NOT ALLOWED to log the book for points.

⚠️This last rule applies to EVERYONE. Everyone will get 1 free token to use if you are not able to log the book within the 48 hours you finish. However, it will need to be approved by your team captain in order to log it.)

My favorite character in this book was Brooke. Yes she made a dumb mistake by having a kid at a younger age but she had grown up and did her best for her son and herself. Her parents had pretty much dropped their daughter when they found out she was pregnant with Shane's kid. Brooke cares about her son very well and will do anything to make sure her son is taken care of and makes sure that if she does go out on a night out her son is taken care of. She is a wonderful mother like figure to her son Josh and yes there are times where he was figuring things out but he wasn't a bad kid in school and she knew that without him growing up without a father he would learn. She didn't give up on her son when things got hard and she knew that it was her idea to leave those people who wanted her to get rid of her son. My least favorite character was hands down Brandon. I seriously had lost all respect for Brandon when the book had mentioned that he always cheated on Chelsea with other girls. When they were all hanging out together you literally could tell all he wanted was alcohol and to get laid. The fact that he literally didn't have the care to take Chelsea up to a private room and was literally doing it on the couch in front of everyone. He really put off a trashy vibe and I knew that he was that type of guy when he flirted with all the girls at the football games. He needs to learn respect for women and if he is not going to be faithful then he needs to not pursue something with a woman. (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ This book good but the ending was so anticlimactic! Like all this build up I mean there were 90+ chapters then in the final moments it was wrapped up. It just ended. There were a few sentences about poor Rachel / Mae. But after all that happened to her the end was swallow up by Emily who frankly I thought was slightly unhinged herself. I guess I was just waiting for a big finish. I mean her getting away was huge but it’s was like you got away good then almost nothing. The end just kind of killed it for me. 💭What is your favorite thing to do when it comes to Fall time? 106 words ( 4 points)

I love any type of fall hiking. I love the colors of the leaves and the bite in the air. My kids and I go hiking often in the ai is cooler. I love getting outside and enjoying nature. But we all get a little cranky when it is to hot. SO Fall is out hiking sweet spot. Even when it starts to get cooler we will head up to the Catskills where my father in law lives go hiking in the mountains and then come home to a warm pellet stove, hot chocolate and homemade meatballs and sauce. It is our favorite time of year.

💭What was your least favorite part of the book? 186 words ( 6 points)

(view spoiler)[ The end! I already stated most of this in my book review it just seemed to blunt and anticlimactic. There was all this build up, she was trapped for 5 years! Then in the matter of a few chapters she got away and it was over. There was some referance to the fact that he was arrested and he was in the paper and she got home but it was like there was no ending! I know the climax was her big escape but even that for all the book gave was so quick. There was so much detail in the book you could feel yourself in the pages and in the town ( especially I am sure for me since I live in the Hudson Valley!) but the escape and the end was so rushed and just bland compared to the rest. The on top of that in the final moments I feel more spotlight was given to Emily who was a main character in the book and I wanted to hear her final story but I feel like Rachel/ Mae deserved more of a finale. (view spoiler)[ This booked had me hooked from chapter one! Everyone in this book was slightly unhinged but in a very good thriller book way. This was one of those stories where you read it and think where on earth did the author come up with this story! There were so many small twists and turns that the big one at the end was shocking to me at least. I totally though this was going a whole different direction. Then just as you think it is all wrapped up right on the last page there is another small twist! Well maybe not a twist but just another OMG moment. I ate this book up and finished in like a day and a half! I will be reading more by this author for sure. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I have to say I had so many predictions about this book and everyone was wrong! I can say I am VERY bad at predicting the outcomes of thrillers and I am totally okay with that. I am worried once I am able to predict them most of the time they will no longer hold my appeal. Anyway, if I had to pick one big prediction that was wrong, I thought Millicent had him ( and i say him because I thought my mind had really gone to mush and I forgot his name but they never named him! He only went by his Alias!). I really though he was going to go down and she was going to ride off into the sunset no one the wiser. That was totally wrong! Not only that even after he gets away with all he did by pitting all the blame on her when she can no longer stand up for herself (not that she was innocent!) But then he rides and with the last page of the book you know he is going to start right back up! This book really keeps you guessing! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I loved this book! I had said that Phantasma was my top read of 2024 as of now Enchantra will be hard to beat in 2025. Her world building and the twists and turns and all the layers! It is just amazing writing in my opinion. The door was for sure left open for more books and I love that and cannot wait for more! I am obsessed with the enemy to lover's trope, and they truly did not like each other. But even that was peeled away, and secrets came to light. I love a good spicy romance and there are some that it is all spice this had spice for sure, but it did not overpower the main story. There was just so much going on, but it never felt like you were lost. Even at the end I was sure Rowin gave his soul for her, and he did in a way but not as expected. The way the author builds the trials and the games and the connected love and the family ties I just love it all. Yet though it all you are still on the edge of your seat needing to know what happened next! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I have to say I loved most of the characters but for some reason I really liked Sevin. I am hoping there will be a book for him! I felt like out of all the family members aside for Rowin and Barrington he seemed to embrace Vivi as family more then the others. They seemed to form a on and he was the only one she granted her nick name to. It felt like if it was not for the Hunt they would have been great friends and I think even in light of it they did become friends. There was just something about him that I liked reading about. They whole family clearly had a goal in mind or more than one however with Sevin it just seemed like regardless of the goal and the fact that he did try and kill her since they were still in the Hunt he was never truly evil towards her as some of the others were even between rounds. (view spoiler)[ Well if I had to pick one it would be Knox. However, I did not really dislike him. He was evil that is for sure but I mean he is a Devil there was no real way for him to be. I know Salem was able to break free in Phantasma but that is a whole other story and I am sure if we took a deep dive into that his true nature will never really be gone. Love is the key. Knox is evil through and though, he made Vira ill and although we don’t truly know why (hoping that is in future books) it appears it was just so he had a reason to make this sick game. He pits the family against each other year after year. He is relentless and cruel. But again, without that nature and without his sick game there would be no story. Just because one Devil ( Salem) found love and a future that does not mean all will that would make the book wildly boring and predictable. There must be a true villain and Knox is that guy. I did have to remind myself that it was based in the 90's especially when they talked about cell phone because I could for sure see where other readers were saying there was a lot of sexism in the book. The women read more like 50's house wife then 90's. That said I feel like there needed to be that air of unbelieving from the men in this book. The men were for sure all jerks! The were all a chauvinistic pig in reality. However not every book is going to spout fairness. The book was about a sadistic vampire who prayed on women and children. There was no way it was going to follow any real social norm. It made you root for the women to stand up to those who they should be able to trust who were really very untrustworthy. To me it showed that woman have to band together and fight no matter the year. I definitely like how his books don't start as a thriller or horror. There is definitely build up. I for one feel the struggle that Patricia had with all the shuffling around. Although we are not living in the 50's there will always be a level that many moms feel are similar to those times. The running around, the dinners and the fight to keep some level of your own time within the balance along with most working now. Overall, I enjoyed the journey he brought me on when I read this just because it was written in a more present day does not mean it was going to be all tied up in a perfectly tidy little bow. (view spoiler)[I thought Carter was my least favorite character of them all. I feel like the other husbands did not really hid how shitty they were. They were very narcissistic for sure. However, I think I disliked Carter so much because he really had me fooled. He seems like a decent guy for most of the book. Sure, he did not truly believe what Patricia told him but I looked at it as he was concerned especially after she took those pills but then you could see that he only cared for himself. When he blamed her for losing the position he was going after rather than being worried about why she did what she did. Then as you read you realize all he did for his family was really for himself. Even at the tail end he was still trying to blame Patricia for it all. I guess in a way things failing was caused by her and her friends but I mean they killed a Vampire! Not that he knew that or would have believed that. I guess My dislike is because I was very disappointed that the one man in the book I sort of liked turned out to really be one of the worse there were! (hide spoiler)]

Brock really got on my nerves this whole book because the way I saw it was he was pressuring Millie to move in with him so he could hold the power above her head since she would be living under his roof. The biggest problem with him was he was ready to settle down and take things to the next level and Millie was not ready to that yet because she felt like she needed to tell him about her past. Brock to me didn't really seem to care and want to protect her. He got pissed off when she wouldn't make time for him and he knew she was going back to school and was busy trying to get her degree but still wanted all of her time consumed to him. I also felt like he was very arrogant and that comes with him growing up into a very wealthy family as well. Brock is a very wealthy lawyer who is shocked when he finds out her criminal record and leaves her on the spot at the police station and doesn't care to support her and be by her side as the officers are questioning her. I feel like he really is just trying to show off his money in the wrong ways and is in a rush to settle down but Millie had tried to tell him multiple times that she is not ready but he wouldn't shut up about it and kept forcing her to move in with him.
