Riley, around what year did you read this book?

Are you looking for one specific book or books with a common theme?

KeenReader | 57 comments You might like some of Jasper Fforde's books. He has one series where some people can literally get lost in a book when they are reading. Somehow they enter the world described in the book and they can change it. But just as they can enter the book, the characters in the book can get out. So there are book police who stop people from outside the book changing the plots when they get in and they chase down and return the characters from books who get into our world. This is the Thursday Next series and the first book is The Eyre Affair.
He has another series called "Nursery Crimes" which has characters from nursery rhymes and (mainly) children's books who live in our world. The fictional characters have to act in the same way they would in their nursery rhyme or book. The plots are basically police procedurals. They aren't children's books even though they feature characters from children's literature. The first book is The Big Over Easy, which I think is subtitled Humpty-Dumpty: did he fall or was he pushed?
