Noor Mughal (noormughal) | 17 comments I think the biggest lie is: "Hard work always pays off."
Because… I’ve seen so many people work day and night, sacrifice everything — and still not get what they deserve.
Hard work is important, yes… but without the right support, opportunity, or sometimes just plain luck, it can feel like screaming into a void.

We’re taught to believe success is always in our control — but that’s not always the full truth.

What do you think? What lie do you think we all keep falling for?

message 2: by alexandra (new)

alexandra | 334 comments I totally agree with you! I also think that " Good always wins " cause after you die probably if you were good and respectful and stuff yes you will go to heaven I am not talking abt this.

I am talking about when someone has cancer and he wants to be alive and try all the surgeries to be alive more and if good always wins why he dies? not all the persons die from a disease but some do

Katie | 5 comments "everything happens for a reason" its a big pet peeve of mine when ppl say this, i don't believe everything happens for a reason. some things just happen and theres no reason for it other than that's life.

message 11: by ✨sofia✨ (new)

✨sofia✨ | 665 comments “freedom” has got to be the biggest lie of all honestly

message 12: by book_girlie (new)

book_girlie | 217 comments "Slow and steady wins the race" is so stupid. If youve heard the tale, its abt a rabbit and a turtle doin a race, and the rabbit was winning, obviously. But the rabbit decided to lay down an be cocky, then fell asleep. The turtle won. That story was abt being slow or steady, it was abt arrogance and bein cocky if you ask me🤷

message 13: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments "you are not not alone" sure I am not alone in what I feel. others can feel anger, depression, whatever. but yes I am alone when I am in these moments of feeling. nobody is there when I cry. just me myself and I. I highly agree and disagree with that statement

message 14: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments @katie that one is so stupid. so he got murder for a reason and she got raped for a reason and that kid got cancer for a reason. that one makes no sense.

@sofia fr like what even is it

message 15: by Minay (new)

Minay | 87 comments I think karma is the biggest lie ever some people did horrible stuff and still got away with it.

message 16: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments "everything is gonna be okay" I may know that sure it may eventually be okay. I hear this statement in TV shows all the time when something tragic just happened. first of all not the place to be saying that second of all that statement sounds like you're not allowed to be not okay.

message 17: by Char :) (new)

Char :) | 111 comments When people say something along the lines of like "money wouldn't make you happier" or something similar. Like, yeah okay everyone with enough money to live comfortably might not be happy, but to tell someone who is living paycheck to paycheck that money wouldn't make them a little happier, is stupid as hell.

message 18: by Nova (new)

Nova Meyer | 52 comments Honestly that you have one or two solve purposes in life. I think that life has no inherent meaning, and that individuals are responsible for creating their own purpose through their choices and actions.

I feel like I always here people say like "This is my purpose in life." or "You just have to find your purpose for life." and it just always sounds so stupid to me. Like girl no one has one sole pupose to your life?? Its so much more complex that that.

Anyways sorry for the rant lol > < its a little hard to explain

⭐wish⭐~school hiatus~ (dwisha275gmailcom) | 141 comments Okay, this convo's ACTUALLY deep.
I think the biggest lie ive heard is probably, "You can be anything you want". Like... no. I can't. I can't be a model if I'm too short or if im not pretty. I can't get into my dream high school if there are hundreds of others who have better chances at it than me, even if I put in my best. I can't be a ballerina, because, well, why not? like... life doesn't work like that. then why do people set us up for self-blame, guilt, and shattered hope?

Hey Ella, let me just say I totally agree. In the way I see it, I never think anyone will understand what someone is going through. No one will ever feel the way I feel in this moment. No one will ever truly understand how I feel or what I’m going through.

I agree nobody actually knows if everything is going to be okay after someone says that

claire! [school semi-hiatus] | 457 comments “practice makes perfect”
if you practice the wrong way your whole life then its harder for you to adjust to the right way to do something

†♡✧Aliza✧♡† (alizadawson) | 132 comments omg this is so deep and quite frankly I agree with almost everyone here🤯

message 24: by ♡cameron♡ (new)

♡cameron♡ | 28 comments That chocolate milk comes from brown cows...I know a lot of people that actually believe this and its scary bc they're straight A students

message 25: by Jabotikaba (new)

Jabotikaba | 499 comments Many politicians claim that the Russians are impossible to defeat. But Batu Khan conquered Russia in the Middle Ages, and Japan defeated the Russian Empire in the early 20th century.

message 26: by Luli (new)

Luli | 296 comments i read someone said karma and thats exactly what i was thinking, like "bad people get what the deserve" and let me tell you, no they do not.

Really so!

message 28: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments @wish real. as someone who has lots of diagnoses and struggles with different things that one is a lie

message 29: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments @char I agree. money physically cannot make you happy but money can take you places that can or buy for things that will put you in a better place in one's life.

message 30: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments this one isn't deep but for me at least it's a lie "studying works" it doesn't. I have ADHD short term memory and a math disability. I gave up studying in 9th grade. I feel studying works for people who are good at school. book smart. school is a joke. more about memory. too many tests and not enough resources for those struggling.

message 31: by vanessa ۶ৎ (new)

vanessa ۶ৎ (Xaden's version) (avalahrsen) | 36 comments I hate when people are like:"Oh, do this and then you will rest," like there's no resting in this life, you have to study hard, work hard to achieve something.

message 34: by Summer (new)

Summer (thebookishapril) | 28 comments The biggest lie is that the Bible is not inspired by God; it's a storybook.

message 35: by Dragon Queen (new)

Dragon Queen | 285 comments it's probably that you need good grades in school to succeed, that's not true at all, I have never heard anyone ask for someones GPA after school (not that I don't like having good grades, it's just not necessary to have all A's)

message 36: by thefabfairyꕥ (last edited Jul 29, 2025 05:07PM) (new)

thefabfairyꕥ | 212 comments “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me”

UMMM WDYM. Yeah sticks and stones hurt physically, but words can emotionally hurt JUST as much. Physical wounds heal, but emotional wounds stick with you for sooo much longer.

Like dude, we all know that you’re not!!

message 38: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments @juls that's a good one

message 39: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments @the book thief ha real

but personally I lie more when I say "I'm good" then when I say "I'm fine" but that's just me and I never say "I'm great"

TRUTH. especially if it’s someone who’s opinion you care abt….that hurts more than a blow 😭

message 41: by Benji (new)

Benji | 178 comments What motivational speakers say that is actually horrible advice.

"Sacrifice sleep to accomplish your dreams."

Your brain needs time to recover. Without proper sleep our thinking becomes foggy and slows down our reaction and thought pace. Usually leading to eating poor eating habits. Bad decisions. & some in some messed up scope we think this is helping us getting ahead. It also increases hormonal imbalances. & can also worsen or lead to mental disorders.

What to do instead;
7-9 hours of sleep.
Focus on buying what you need, not what you want. (Simplist, Minimalist)
Daily brain exercises. /// At Least 30mins of physical activity daily…
Say something kind to yourself every time you see your reflection.
Practice walking meditation. (Way of the peaceful Warrior.)
Eat healthy, surround yourself with people who make you feel good.
